Bad rumours for anime fans: a.k.a Manga Entertainment do it again. :(

If anyone has been following my Manga Entertainment reviews this year, you`ve probably gotten used to the sound of headdesk with every paragraph I write. Well, it appears to be getting worse. And it isn`t just the esoteric subject of subtitles/dubtitles.

If anyone remembers what happened with Heat Guy J last year, you`ll recall that Manga released volumes 1 & 2, then had a change of heart half way through, and instead of releasing volume 3, they put out a complete boxset instead, requiring everyone who had bought the first two volumes, to buy them again. And putting V1 and 2 on ebay to get rid of them is pointless, unless you find a total mug to buy them...

Well, Manga has been releasing two major titles this year, and the rumours are that they are about to do the same again.

So if you bought volumes 1 & 2 of Tokko

and volumes 1,2 & 3 of Noein

expect to have to buy them all over again in boxsets come October time to complete the series.

I must point out that these are just rumours as yet, but if Play are updating their pages (and recently deleted Noein v4 & 5, as well as Tokko v3 to replace them with a boxset listing), then it`s more than just fairy dust.

That pain you are feeling is that of being buggered by a corporate entity. >:(

Between extortionate prices, huge delays and ropey distribution, you`d think it`s only mugs that are buying UK anime as and when it`s released. Importing just makes so much more sense, or if you`re patient, waiting for an (almost inevitable) boxset or sweeping the volumes up in the sales.

If you ask me, Manga are showing their age and complacency and are being made to look like fools by MVM, who are the golden boys in the eyes of UK anime fans for a good reason.

I had piles of stuff from both distributors sitting in my house for years. I gave it all away to a mate a few weeks ago. probably about a couple of hundred discs in total, with more to come. Kept some of the retail boxed stuff for myself though, such as Paranoia Agent.

It`s worth sampling a series before you buy...though naturally I would never condone illegally downloading ...

Picture quality or the film? Cos I remember it being pretty, but dull and soulless.

Bit like Paris Hilton

Excellent, excellent film, definitely one of the best I`ve seen in recent years. Still hasn`t been licensed yet I believe. It`s worth checking out the Live action prequel too. It`s not as good but it gives some background. Both live action and anime versions of Toki Wa Kakeru Shoujo stand well enough on their own anyway.

If you have a couple of weeks viewing time to spare, Monster is a damn good series(but 74 episodes long). This video is more of a setup for the series and helps explain the background of the monster in question but I think it`s excellent in its own right.
