JAWS 3D on DVD ??

Tony D (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 25th November 2001, 21:16

Originally screened in 3D version at the cinema, I have only been able to buy in 2D.
Does anybody know if it is possible to purchase the 3D version on either DVD (Any Region) or PAL VHS ??

No doubt some one will correct me on this but I think no. The reason is this (I think). Instead of using the red and green overlay type of 3D Jaws 3D used a system that had polerized lenses. 1 with horizontal lines the other with virtical to correspond with what was on the screen. one eye would see horizontal the other virtical so they could make a 3D image. I don`t think this can be repodused on a normal TV.

I remember going to see this at the ABC in Leicester (now long gone) many moons ago. They had a Tom & Jerry cartoon to start with and some lads were complaining that it wasn`t in 3D.

All the best,

Andrew.

Ah the days of 3D. I seem to remember a version of a 3D Robin Hood being shown on TV in the early 80`s, and then there were the scratch n` sniff cards doing the rounds in conjunction with some TV program, mmmm freshly cut grass and mushrooms.

Hello all.

It was the ABC on Belgrave Gate befor it became The Cannon. The one on Abbey St I think is still going as an Asian film cimima.

The ODEON in the city center closed about 8 years ago now and was replaced by a multi-plex on the site of the old catle market but with out the huge screen and balcony. We all so have a Warner village but it`s not the same. The screen in my shop is nearly as big as what you get now.

All the best,

Andrew.
