Dvd Copying

Beefcake01 (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 7th January 2007, 17:23

hi i was wondering if anyone could help me. When copying a dvd if the dvd is red instead of silver it seems not too copy onto the computer. I was wondering if there was a reason for this and anyway around it. I was also wondering if anyone could point out a good fast, cheap prefably external dvd copyer. thanks for your help.

Think the red discs are Sonys attempt of stopping them being copied. You can get round it - AnyDVD & CloneDVD work.

It`s not the colour, BTW, Sony discs use their proprietory tougher anti-copying encryption.

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...

And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

Sonys recent new system can be removed using DVD Region & CSS Free.

But you have to buy it.

DVD Shrink will copy any dvd with CSS.

Mats***a dvd drives are as yet unhackable for 100% of discs and you cannot copy discs that are both CSS encrypted and a different region to the drive.

Not sure what that means. Just use DVD Fab Decrypter to rip.

Not sure what you mean by an external copier.. do you mean an external DVD writer?

This one looks ok

As for the software for copying discs... The other guys here have made some great recommendations,

any dvd

this will get around regions and copy protection. 15 day trial then £21 .. (no cracks available for this one!) But for the £21 it`s worth it. Get`s around Copy protected cd`s, regions, RCE, ARCOS and makes sure your drive doesn`t get permanently locked to a region! brilliant.

I still use DVD Decrypter It`s the original ripper, and has been superseded but it still works great for me. This will get the Image of the disc onto the PC

I use alcohol 120% to mount the images and play them on my PC

dvd shrink

this will compress the image from 8 gig to 4 (should you need to..double layer discs are more expensive than single layer) and burn the dvd...and it`s FREE!!!

nero works with dvd shrink and will automatically burn the disc as part of the dvd shrink process

Nero isn`t free..but if you know where to look free copies are available for it and Anydvd (But you didn`t hear it from me ;-)

that`s all you need!

I won`t repeat it again - I know of no discs DVD Fab can`t decrypt that anydvd can.
