Page 1 of Anyone know when the new Bladerunner disc is out?

There was talk of an SE late this year, but I saw something mention a wooly "early next year" date - anyone the wiser?

No, not the directors cut (which is apparently a bad transfer, and has been around for ages - see http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/BladeRunner.asp) - there is apparently a new version coming out, with Directors` commentary etc.

From dvdfile`s Studio Day article:
"...due in 2002 include 20th Anniversary Editions of Blade Runner..."
and it`s easily the disc I`m most looking forward to.

The existing disc isn`t -that- bad. The reviewers at michaeldvd are anal in the extreme, sometimes a good thing, sometimes not. Of course the new brand spanking new transfer will almost certainly blow us away. Dvdfile also have an excellent interview with some chappie at scottfree who are producing the disc.

Nice one lard - roll on 2002....

This is one disc i`m looking forward to aswell. Lets just hope it has the treatment it deserves.

Mmmm. I think I`ll hold fire and wait for the special special edition. I think it is inevitable that Ridley Scott will have a rummage in the archives and restore the infamous excised scenes.

I thought the special edition already restored those excised scenes (doesn`t it? - unicorns and stuff???).

Anyway, does anyone know if this new edition is going to be 5.1`d?

Does anyone know which versions the discs have on them? I know there is the original version which includes a narration and a happy ending and a later version (is this the director`s cut?) which has neither of those things and is supposedly `better`. But what discs have what versions? (It would be nice if one disc had both for comparison purposes but I doubt it).
