Page 1 of V for Vendetta - Anyone else been to see it yet?

I had been looking forward to V since i read about it last year and i wasn`t disappointed. What a brilliant film it was and Hugo Weaving was just incredible although you never get to see his face, not once, lol. Padme was pretty good too although you could see some of her acting skills from Sith coming through a little :/ .

It`s quite a long film at just under 2hrs10min but it doesn`t feel it, the time just flys by and your on the edge of your seat the whole time. The trailer would have you believe that it`s an all out action type affair which in a way it is but i found it to be more character driven and when the action does come into play it`s just brilliance. With bullet time dagger play from the Wachowski(sp?) bros you really can`t go wrong.

This i will definatly go see again:D

P.S - Does anyone know where i can buy one of those Guy Faulks masks with or without the wig?

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

Went to see it this morning and didn`t really think it was going to be that great (had free tickets) but I was very very wrong. I agree with just about every word enemyonmypc said. Very story/character based with a lot of dialogue for the genre -for once the action served the plot/characters. I think my wife described it best when she said she thought we were going to see an adaptation of a comic book, but for the first time she thought we had seen an adaptation of a graphic novel. Great style to the direction and cinematography, and Stephen Rea as the police inspector brought everything to the role. Thought the film was very well structured and the use of flashbacks and the narrative devices also worked well.

My one complaint was that it did seem such a waste of Hugo Weaving, although keeping him behind the mask did work it was just a bit too all-covering for me - I just needed to see a bit of his eyes or mouth to give just a bit more insight to the character.

Very Very good - and the fact we saw it on the IMAX probably helped!

It was maybe a bit unfait to describe it as a waste - his voice alone is enough to make the character work, but there was just something lacking. It`s been a long time since I saw the Elephant Man, but Andy Serkis performance in LOTR and King Kong was much more involving than V. With the Serkis cgi masks he has so much more to work with, the features and facial gestures are all there, but V is really just a disembodied voice behind a fixed unchanging mask. I didn`t need to see his face, or a CGI enhanced version, but I needed just an occasional glimpse of eyes or lips to convey a bit more in terms of emotion/motive/intention.

I could see "waste" in terms of he might aswell have done a voice over for it. There didnt seem to be any kind of body language (is that the right term?) to sot of hint that it was Weaving in the costume.

When V first started talking i was dying to shout "Mr Annnderson" but managed to resist the urge:D.

You know i`m ashamed to admit i havent read the graphic novel yet. May nip to borders tomorrow and get it tomorrow.

Stantz - was Forbidden Plante a guess or have you actualy seen them instore?. I can`t find it online and don`t fancy the 10 mile drive to the store in the town without knowing for sure? Cheers
