Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
What the F`#k do FOX think there doing ???!?!?!
The posts on this board are correct. Predator has been severly cut for DVD. Most shots of violence and large chucks of scenes have been taken out, including the "stick-around" moment. They have been badly cut too, making scenes look odd, and distracting jumps in sound and pace.
WHY ? WHY ? WHY ? WHY? The video, and recent TV versions dont have these cuts ? WHY ? WHY ? WHY ? WHY ? WHY ? WHY ?
I`m taking my box-set back
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video

some dosh.
Thanks!!
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video

RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
To be fair, the transfers and sound are great !
Buy it if you will, but trust me, keep the reciept.
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
Just got an official comment from Fox which I`ll be posting to our news page later.
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
So what Fox are pretty much saying, is that they used, say....the German edit of the movie for our release ?
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
The exact cuts include the "stick around" one liner and flaming bad guys just before that. I read it in Total Film. This doens`t jive with what else they say though - that the DVD/cut film is 5 mins shorter than the uncut version (I wouldn`t have thought they`d get the NTSC/PAL issue mixed up). Must be more cuts.
Hope no one bought the box set. That would be a shame. :D
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
Is Predator 2 cuts as well ? I`m not that bothered about the first one being cut. Predator 2 is the business ..... Voodoo fecking magic man !!
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
What a travesty to give the fans the altered version!!??. A shame that the DVD business is being run by idiots it seems. I hope the releases are a financial flop and they realise why!. They must think we`re all dumb or something ?. I`ll just have to make do with the old tatty VHS versions I`ve had for years, and wait for the originals to come out in 2002 as "ultra editions" or whatever name they give the re-release scam at the time.
RE: Predator : Forget the DVD, buy the Video
I`m quite shocked really. Imagine if years ago they hacked away at a lazerdisk version this badly (I am new to the world of DVD etc so sure me if there`s already a case like this).
There would be uproar, maybe even more so than there is now. DVD although becoming more mainstream, is the film company`s opportunity to bring out a definitive version of their film, not to hack away at it so people stick with the VHS version. I would love to buy Predator on DVD but feel disgusted that they hack away at it so badly. Why doesn`t a film company as big as them have the extra few thousand to produce a different master copy for British fans of the film? It beggers belief!
