Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance/JSA - what`re they like?
Really enjoyed Oldboy, so I thought I`d check out Park Chan-wook`s older flicks. Anyone got any opinions on it SFMV? What about JSA?

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is a masterpiece, better than Oldboy in my opinion. Haven`t seen Joint Security Area yet though.

I watched Oldboy first too & then decided to check out JSA and SFMV and I have to say that SFMV is the better - Having said that it is very slowly paced, and builds up to a great end.
JSA is good but the weakest IMO

JSA is the only movie I`ve seen out of the one`s you list (although Oldboy is on my must buy next list). I absolutely loved JSA. It`s a very political, yet very human tale of a friendship between soldiers across the de-militarized zone between North and South Korea. It`s often quite scary (not in a horror way!) and often quite uplifting. Personally, I would put it in your must see category, but that`s me. :)

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is excellent with some extreme violence: SPOILER:
the image of the sliced achilles tendons flapping in the water still haunts me to this day!I haven`t seen JSA but, after watching Oldboy, it is on my `to watch` list.

If you haven`t already, I`d also highly recommend you to check out Chanwook Park`s instalment in the Three: Extremes horror anthology, very similar in style and starring the actress who played Mido in Oldboy.

The other guys at DVDAnswers seemed to reckon that his was the weakest of the three instalments, but I might give it a go at some point.
