Lord of the Rings - Animated movie ?!?

Anyone remember this ?!? I`ve got a ropey copy on VHS that I recorded off Channel 4 many moons ago !! Anyone heard of a release on DVD, I`m surprised they haven`t due to the hype surrounding the huge release up and coming at Christmas, they`d make an absolute killing !!

Same here - got an old Channel 4 VHS copy. Been waiting ages for them to release it. Can`t see it happening any time soon, but if they do, I imagine it`ll be around the time of the movie cinema release. Fingers crossed, touch wood, an` all that.

Hopefully they will add the `quick ending` the BBC did to finish the third book, rather than leave it open.

Its a shame that your videos are copies.
Apparently original VHS versions of LOR fetch around £150!!!

There was a rumour back in November, repeated in February, that the animated version would be released in R1, probably around the time of the first new movie (this Xmas).

Try...

It`s a funny old film isn`t it? As far as I recall it was so expensive to make relativly) that they ran out of money and a proper ending was never made. Is that right?

Yup, that`s right - no proper ending...finishes rather abruptly. Loads of Tolkien purists slated and hated it. Well, I love of the Tolkien books, and, call me heretic, but I liked the Bakshi version of the movie too. It was an original way to animate!

Oh yeah, and the last time I looked (a few months back) there were quite a few original VHS versions for sale on various auction sites - amazon, ebay etc.., most were going for about $30 or so towards the end of bidding time.

looking on DVD Debate, there is a news story there about Warner 2001 Autumn Releases and LOTR animated version is listed there for a November Release.
Has anyone else seen or heard anything about this?
