Page 1 of Blockbusters and piracy rant

I normally just lurk, but has anyone listened/watched the latest rant in blockbusters lately. You know priracy funds terrorism, organised crime and encourages human slavery? YES human slavery, whatever next?

I couldn`t help but think that the rants are getting like a US election campaign, but do we need this level of extremism in our high street? Does anything go to get your message across no matter how true or tenous?

I`m sure the of the danger of piracy to the industry, but my sympathy wears a little thin when they want to start tugging at the heart strings with dubious claims.

It is tenous though, surely they can`t expect people to believe that human slavery is anymore related to dvd piracy than potato farmers are for chip pan fires?

The attitude amongst your average general public is, `as long as it doesn`t happen to me, I don`t give a s***.`

While I agree that video and music piracy is a concern to all retailers I find one small aspect quite comical and confusing where Blockbuster are concerned.
Beneath one of the television sets showing the video regarding piracy they had a large display box filled to the brim with DVD/R. I know this does not indicate they support people backing up their own DVD`s but FFS why have them in the shop at all if they are so concerned, or is it that there is brass to be had :/

It`s been a bit aggravating to me aswell. I wouldn`t mind if it`s occasional but it seems to me that when I go in there it`s played every 5 minutes.

It`s a form of subliminal propaganda; and the link is tenuous to say the least in my opinion.

Sure human traffickers use DVD piracy. I accept that.
Many also shop in Tesco - is this also a possible link?
Many human traffickers drive expensive cars - another possible link?
Many also smoke - and that`s a killer - Wow , so many links!!
I might just hand this evidence over to the police in case they can do some psychological profiling - then we can catch the blighters, and make our streets safe once more.

Next time I`m in Tesco and see someone buy a packet of fags and leave in an expensive car I can be pretty certain they`re into DVD piracy and a human trafficker! The rascals!!

I work in a builder`s yard, and as such, are targets for blokes selling stuff out of the back of their vans/trucks etc. I don`t buy any myself, but lately we`ve had asian looking lads coming up to us saying the same thing over and over, as if it`s the only word they know.

"DVD? DVD?". I asked him to show me what he had and they were all pirates (Team america, Birth, all the latest). I asked him how much and he actually showed me a piece of paper with `£5` written on it. Popped into BB`s the other day and the commercial was playing, the woman commenting on human traffiking, and the traffikers using the refugees to sell the DVD`s to pay off their ticket. Seems I experienced it first hand.

I hate this stupid rant too, they seem to play it on a continuous loop everytime I go there, does my bloody head in. >:(

Near where I work without fail everytime I pop into KFC an Asian/Oriental guy comes in and asks everyone if they want some DVDs. On average everyday just walking to the tube and back I get approached about 2-3 times by different people. In saying that, a lot of my friends d/l films and they are not drug traffickers etc.

Ah, but how do you know? Do Drug Traffickers now all wear the equivalent of yer McDonalds worker badges with little stars on? :D

I think it`s very hypocritical, for people like FACT and other organisations to say that piracy funds terrorism, if that`s the case, then why don`t they do something about McDonalds, General Motors, or quite a few American corporations, because they fund the IRA!!!

Oh and lets us not forget that Amnesty International are full supporters of the IRA, there are plenty of reports on their website about the poor IRA suppressed by the evil British.

Silly me, I forgot IRA aren`t classed as terrorists are they? Nor do they blow up innocent men, women and children in shopping centres.
