Unadvertised extra on Se7en 2-disc set revealed by What Hi Fi

Got my May 2001 subscription copy of What Hi Fi this morning, and on page 28 they note :

"The Region 2 DVD disc of movie Se7en is the first blockbuster released in the UK to feature a DTS 6.1 Discrete soundtrack, the new format that includes a discrete sixth channel for centre-rear effects. The trouble is, the outside of the box neglects to inform you of this fact. Be assured, however, that you can indeed sit back and enjoy the very latest in DTS soundtracks."

Well how about that ! Can any owners of the above with a DTS decoding DVD or amp confirm this please ?

Sorry Clayts but this sounds(sic) like a late April Fool or a Wind up!

Stupid as I am, I have a DTS/DD 5.1 Videologic system which has the usual 5 (count `em) speakers & a Sub. These are connected to 5 channels on the Amp.

A`Discrete` 6th channel could only be obtained by combining sounds from a minimum of 2 adjacent speakers e.g. L+R as in stereo!

I can`t see how a 6th is discrete, since it could only be a product of of 2 existing channels.

Or is this a DOH!-type answer.

SN
(confused & doesn`t know enough `bout 3D sound production).

SN - sorry mate, but 6.1-discrete does actually exist.

It`s a centre speaker between your left rear and right rear speakers.

There are plenty of amps available in the UK doing this feature.

Er, subscription to Home Entertainment maybe, Normski ?
