TV shows that really deserve the box set treatment yet remain locked in the archives...

Stuart McLean (Reviewer) posted this on Wednesday, 16th June 2004, 21:29

Can`t figure out why `Batman` (the original 1960`s series) hasn`t had the box set treatment yet. :/

And whilst I`m on the subject (in case any copyright holders are tuning in) here are a couple of others that I`d snap up on release:
The Double Deckers
HR Pufnstuf (the whole series)

Any other ideas?

Batman (1966) is locked in rights problems between producers Fox and Batman owners Warners. It would seem Warners don`t want Adam West`s campery doing their biggest franchise any damage. Read more here

Just pop over to PlayUSA and do a search on Pufnstuf - £24.99 for the whole shooting match.

The Champions are available in a box set (Play £42.99)

Everybody would love to see "Here Come The Double Deckers", me included. The series is owned by 20th Century Fox. I`ve started a studio feedback thread over at the HTF so if anybody wants to join those forums and add votes to that, be polite as they may be lurking. ;)

How about Jason King. Or The Herbs

Just clicked on to the link, and this quote made me laugh on what the Warner company are rumored to be thinking, about the 60s show.

Quote:
Warner Brothers is embarrassed by the TV show and wants the public to forget the show ever exited

This is the same company that made Batman and Robin!!!! Oh the irony.

p.s.

Star Fleet!!! Remember that cool show!!!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe! :D

They`re gradually being released on separate DVDs, but I`d love a fully fledged box set with all 100-odd episodes.

Action, American TV satire about a Hollywood film executive,
"In Hollywood you`re only as good as your last flick, and Dragonfire Films exec Peter Dragon has hit bottom with his $150 million bomb "Slow Torture." His only hope to get back to the way things were is the shoot-`em-up film "Beverly Hills Gun Club," and the only person that will help him is ex-child star turned hooker Wendy Ward."
