Found this on the recently classified page of the BBFC , a jaws dvd menu :o , could this just be a re-release of the current dvd , or a special special ultra collectors edition re-release or somthing dumb like that.

Wouldnt know what improvement the original DVD needs to be honest!!
The one thats available now has a superb picture , Dolby 5.1 surround sound and a shed load of extras!
The only improvement that could be made would be a commentary by Spielberg himself but we all know his feelings on that!!

They could fix the big bang at the end, strip off that cr*p new sound effect and reinstate the original kaboom.

In other words: they could put back the original mono soundtrack instead of having daft `electronically reprocessed` 5.1 for the kiddies. :D
Remixing the sound is one thing - adding new sound effects is just... wrong! At least they didn`t do a Lucas and make the woman bite first or whatever.

How about re-issuing it with the complete LD documentary and not the edited down version currently available.

A group commentry with some of the cast and crew would be nice , although mr spielberg never gets envolved with that sort of thing.
but lets just hope to god that they dont do somthing like add a CGI shark and turn it into a ultra remastered deluxe 4 hr version or something.

This will probably just be the re-issue of the original release now under the Universal banner as opposed to Universal/Columbia Tristar. Universal have been slowly re-releasing those DVD`s that they sold through Columbia/Tristar but so far all these re-releases have been the same as the originals.
