The Italian Job (2003) R1 DVD...

chewie (Elite) posted this on Friday, 19th September 2003, 18:26

The Italian Job remake is now shipping from Movietyme. I really enjoyed this film, in the same way I enjoyed Ocean`s 11. It`s just so much fun.

I should have the DVD sometime next week, so I`ll let you know how good it is :)

Anyone else ordered it or maybe has it already?

shame the bbfc made paramount butcher it to get a 12 rating......

enjoyed though as is not a remake (still not as good as the "you were only supposed to blow bloody doors off!" version)

Just like Charlie`s Angels 2: Full Throttle :/

According to IMDB

Quote:
During post-production, the UK distributor sought and was given advice about classification. After receiving that advice the company chose to make changes to the film. The changes involved the removal of several instances of strong language. The only formal submission to the BBFC for classification was of the UK cinema version and this was passed 12A without cuts

That is the reason I`m getting the R1 DVD, so I can see it uncut. I guess where someone says "motherfrickin" in the 12A version, it is actually meant to be "motherf*cker". 8)

Plus, I`ve also ordered the R1 Unrated Charlie`s Angels 2 DVD (don`t know why cos I didn`t like the film that much, but I`m curious as to what gets in the `Unrated` version, if you know what I mean ;) ).

Well, my anger for the BBFC finally came to a point where I will never buy another cut film again. And R1 DVDs aren`t that bad, I can live easier with some instances of slight "judder", but I can`t live with a PAL DVD if it is cut. And it`s easier to get R1/R3 DVDs than it is to get R4 DVDs (for me anyway ;) ).

And I can get them quicker as well :D

Although I`ll still prefer to get the R2 PAL DVD if the film is not cut and has just as many extras. Just to show an example, the only reason I bought Frailty R1 is because the R2 has f*ck-all on it, but the R1 has 3 commentaries and some other stuff. The film may have been uncut in the UK, but I want value for money and the Bill Paxton commentary was a good listen.

So I haven`t abandoned PAL, I still have most of my pre-orders for R2 DVDs, but I won`t hesitate to get the R1 if the R2 is cut. Eh, I`ll shut up now ;) :)
