House of 1000 Corpses!

Ascomdog (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 9th August 2003, 10:05

Just watched the R1 release (rated...unfortunately), and it`s not a bad film at all. Don`t listen to all the hype surrounding this film, and you will enjoy it.

Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding is excellent...got to be one of the funniest characters seen in recent years. The black comedy in this film is brilliant. It`s also a breath of fresh air to see a film without any digital special effects.

Has anyone else got this film, if so, did you get a booklet with it? I didn`t, but there`s a pocket within the package that looks like there should be a booklet!

Oh and one more thing...Rob Zombie`s wife...jammy bugger!

There`s a new interview with Zombie over at DVD File.

I`m wondering if I should see this film at Fright Fest later this month...

FrightFest takes place at the Prince Charles cinema in West London over the August Bank Holiday weekend, 22-25 August. Tickets are £8.50 per film with a weekend pass at just £99!

I`m already geared up to see:

The Butterfly Effect
Cypher
Cabin Fever
Gozu

By all accounts, it`ll be good fun!

On its way from amazon.ca, so I`ll let you know.

Looking forward to it and I`ve read that there is not too much difference between the R and unrated versions?????

Hi Pete, they supposedly cut about 17 mins out before release, so apparently there is an 105 min version somewhere! I`ve also read that they are shooting new footage for a special `beefed up` version to be released in October.

There`s not a great deal in the way of extras on the disc, but the commentary by Captain Spaulding, as you decide what to watch, is hilarious. I`ve only watched it once so far & I enjoyed it, but I think it`ll get better with each & every viewing. I have only one problem with the film...it hasn`t got Captian Spaulding in as much as he should be...this guy steals the show.

I got no booklet either, nice pacageingbut why the flap? it lead me to believe that there shouldn`t be a booklet as the chapter stops are on one of the folds. It`s a shame there wasn`t some of Robs other work on the disc like the `More Human Than Human` video but then i suppose there are rights issues but maybe the next edition?

Anyone heard that Robs next project will be Ho1000C2?

Thanks xHCx, at least I now know that I haven`t got anything missing...well, as far as the dvd goes, anyway!

Apparently they`re looking to get the sequel filmed and ready for release for April 2004, in time for the first year anniversary of the original. The dvd extras are a tad bare, which is a bit unfortunate! What did you think of the film, by the way? I watched it again today, the girlfriend hates it...but she`s very squeamish.
