Superbit titles

dvd_vicar (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 5th August 2003, 17:23

Play and Splash have lots of SB titles on offer at the moment. At Splash they are £7.99 with the code.
Can anyone comment as to whether they are worth the extra? I am thinking specifically Gladiator, xXx, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal - none of which I own (or have seen).
Thanks in advance
Nick

`Gladiator` - buy the 2 disc edition, it has some great extras, and good video and audio anyway. The DTS may add a little on the SB version, but overall you are better off with the regular.

`xXx` - crap film, don`t see why you want it...but anyway, I would again advise the regular edition as it has a good selection of extras.

Don`t know about the other two, sorry.

Does it? Oh, in that case, forget about the SB then!

Yes, the two disc edition does have DTS-ES and the sound is fantastic, especially the opening battle sequence when the sixth channel is arrow central :)

I have watched Gladiator four times in the last couple of weeks there is somthing about the film that makes you go back to it, but I wish they had kept some of the deleted scences in the film.

Wasn`t Gladiator the first DTS release to UK Region 2?

Gladiator wasn`t the first DTS title on R2...there was the odd music dvd which had it(Roy Orbison A Black and White Night springs to mind)...however, Dreamworks did seem to start the ball rolling with Gladiator and also Chicken Run at the same time if i`m not mistaken?

My introduction to Superbit was Charlies Angels, all I can say is fantastic !!!
Soundtrack is superb (Prodigy etc.) and the picture quality as you would expect is second to none, highly recommended. :D
