SG1 boxset question

sashenden (Elite) posted this on Monday, 21st July 2003, 08:57

I have started buying the SG1 series boxsets. Season 1 has disks numbered disks 1-6. season 2 has the disks number Volume 2-7 season 3 is volume 8-13.
Why?

I think because the `Stargate` discs were released individually to begin with, numbered for easy identification. Thus, the numbers have been transferred over to the boxsets.

In other words they were too tight/lazy to redo the covers?

Well I suppose you can stick them all in one big box and still watch them in order, since they are numbered... :-)

The original release for R2 had Season 1 as a best of disk. Then they released subsiquent seasons as single disks, before boxing them up as sets. So you have :

Season 1 - best of - single volume - labelled volume 1
Season 2, vols. 2-7
Season 3, vols. 8-13 etc.

When they saw everyone buying up R1 season 1 boxset, which had the full season`s episodes, they released their own set and didn`t renumber.

The only set that has been properly numbered is R1.

So it is a case of them not being bothered to renumber the sets after releasing season1. Thought it might be. That also explains why the following seasons have season 1 episodes that introduce characters like Hathor. Thanks for that

The frustrating thing about this season 1 confusion is that I now have missing episodes, particularly The Nox which to my knowledge has never been transmitted on terrestrial TV before. When first released I was renting the videos but this and one other ep was missed from the series so that I have still not seen it (only referred back to in later eps). Trouble is, although I have been buying individual DVD`s (they have been only £6.99 at HMV until now) these eps are only included on the full season 1 boxset. Aaarghh!

I thought channel 4 showed The Nox, didnt they? I definately saw it before I bought the boxset. Somehow I missed the whole of series 2 except 1 episode though.
Which is the other episode that is missing?

sorry to seem a bit of an ass but

STARGATE SG-1 DVD`s are not numbered wrong at all ok!
here is my proof
If you read the side of the Season one box set they are numbered Disc 1, Disc 2 etc
as where the single releases are numbered Volume 1, Volume 2 etc
just though I would piont this out seeing as I own Season one set and Volumes 1-30 (30 which I recieved today)

Voulme one was released a few years ago but the box set was only released this year
What do you expect them to do add these in at the end as volume numbers and knock the whole set out of order or just release them as a stand alone box set?

Well if they can number season 1 disc 1-6 why not do covers for season 2,3,4,5 boxsets with Disc 1-6 as well? It isnt rocket science. And who said they were numbered "wrong"? Thanks for the proof though. :p
