Page 1 of How do I burn a avi file?
DVDs & Films Forum
I use easy cd creator and it does not support the avi file. Any ideas?
Cheers
What exactly are you trying to burn?
An avi file is a data file so you can burn it as data just like any other file.
If you want to burn something to watch on your standalone DVD player then you need to burn as a VCD or SVCD. I stopped using "Easy CD creator" a long time (`cos it`s rubbish, although it might be better now), if you want to burn VCDs or SVCDs better to use something like "Nero Burning Rom".
There are a whole host of websites that can tell you how to do what you want better than any explanation in this forum. like http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ for example
Same as me. I use Nero and select DATA file and then drag and drop the files I want to burn. Make sure you don`t burn the .avi any faster than 16x and always check that the file is burned properly afterwards (even if the verification tests pass).
For converting from .avi to SVCD/VCD/DVD you are going to want to use TMPGEnc. Then burn it with Nero, ULEAD or Stomp.

RE: How do I burn a avi file?
ditto, I`ve got tmpegenc, which has converted the file ok, and I`ve used nero to burn it, but for some reason, it won`t play in my dvd player.
are there any common mistakes or problems which would cause this?
Have you checked that you player can play VCDs and SVCDs. My player for example didn`t by default. It had to be remote hacked to play VCDs and doesn`t play SVCDs at all.
