Zombie Holocaust

Pobol Pobotrol (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 5th January 2001, 16:17

I`m looking forward to Zombie Holocaust a great deal, regardless of Robert John Shepherd`s tedious opinion. It`s a damn site more interesting than the blackbuster hollywood "premier league" crap listed on the news page and to see an independant distributor making an effort to release rare horror, when it isn`t shoddy VIPCO product.

Blair Witch 2 - do me a favour...

The limp gimp Robert John Shepherd clearly has no left side of the brain, `else he`d`ve figured out that Zombie Holocaust is not s`posed to be a `serious` `artistic` movie. More, it`s a romp, to be enjoyed and NOT to be taken seriously. Waaayyy good fun too and indeed it is a welcome change to see a UK horror distributor taking some time and making an effort to secure the best source materials available. Makes a change. VIPCO, VCI and DIVID need to DIE!

hi pobol
i already own zombie holocaust on dvd i got it from holland its distributor is dragon
it too has one deleted seen which dosent contain any gore in it it is just completely utter nonsense
really it shouldnt bee in it i also got a rare version of the last house on the left it is a french one with english subtitles in it
and well said f*** vipco they destroyed the burning with its 23 seconds of cuts yet they released the bogeyman fully uncut
here is a secret for you m8 the bbfc already told vipco to produce as many of there so called video nastys to them and the bbfc would be leniant towards them they also sais that they could release the burning fully uncut and VIPCO didnt take the bbfc up on this so f***hole
vipco decided to release it themselves FULLY CUT . which 23 seconds in a horror movie is no use at all so f*** vipco i refuse to buy from them now i have been a horror well video nasty collector for years now i have over 1,000 video nastys on vhs getting there now trying to get a hold of as many dvds as i can ferox is good as is cannibal holocaust anyway thank f*** for ANCHOR BAY they rule ........

My apologies, I was in a sarcastic mood on Friday. :-)

Anyway, I thought it was Cannibal Holocaust that is supposed to be a decent horror movie, not Zombie Holocaust. Correct me if I`m wrong however...

hi robert,
no no m8
zombie holocaust is as good as cannibal holocaust and cannibal ferox it seems to me as if zombie holocaust
basically is not really a zombie movie its more like that feeling of a cannibal nature of things i actually prefer
cannibal ferox (aka make them die slowly ) it has more to offer nice scenes of castration in it dont you think lol
then there was zombie flesh eaters it was more like a zombie movie as it is supposed to be .......

Well if you`re going to set yourself up as some sort of authority on film, you need to do rather better than "I was in a sarcastic mood", don`t you Robot ?

What with this and those idiots at the DVD Debate, horror/cult/alternative movie fans seem to be getting a rough deal from you mainstream plastic movie people.

No, Zombie Holocaust is NOWHERE NEAR as good as Cannibal Holocaust and whilst garbage such as Eaten Alive & Cannibal Ferox does tend to give dismissive and superior types such as yourself ammunition to attack cult jungle flicks, you need to ba a little careful about misunderstanding the film`s intent and purpose! Zombie Holocaust, like Fulci`s Zombie Flesh Eaters or Mattei`s Zombie Creeping Flesh is just a romp, fun in the jungle with entertaining action, jungle adventure and some competent gore effects to pass the time. That said, because it aint `art` or Speilberg, does not give you mainstream luvvie types carte blanch to just dismiss it out of hand, know what I mean?!

Have a nice day and off you go back to those Kenneth Brannagh/Peter Greenaway movies...

Hi Lawless;

Aye, BIG horror fan. Love the italian stuff of Argento, Fulci, Avati, Soavi & some Bava & Deodato. Love the US stuff to a degree, some Craven, Romero, Verhoeven - not all horror by any means, most Carpenter & Cronenberg, some indies like Henenlotter, some Stuart Gordon, BillLustig, Norman J. Warren, Charles Kaufman and a few early Sam Raimi and (although it`s not exclusively horror) David Fincher. Really though there`s too many to name.

I`ve thousands of horror/cult/indie/alt movies on VHS and several hubndred on DVD and a good site for the horror fans is www.splatterhouse.net - best on the `net for horror, you`ll get real respect for your taste, not dismissive remarks of the kind offered by Mr. Shepherd.
