RE: Yo...
Mother`s Day is superb, unbelievably good movie and incredibly good disc considering Troma released it. Sadly I lost my tapes with the Guinea pig series on years ago, but keep trying. 2 & (I think) 5 are good and Android(Mermaid) in a Manhole is certainly different. Dellamorte Dellamore is okay, but of Soavi`s movies La Chiesa & La Setta are way better. I had the joy of introducting Soavi at a London Film Festival screening of La Setta - he was not pleased they promoted it as Dario`s movie! Off topic, but I just saw Soderbergh`s Traffic - it`s GREAT! L8R.
RE: Lawless Kid...
Thanks for your kind waords Lawless;
Splatterhouse is THE `net horror site - accept NO substitute. Charlie Kaufman is Lloyd`s brother and director of the superb Mother`s Day. Lloyd is a twat though and Terror Firmer looks absolutely f***in` awful. As a rule I HATE Troma garbage with a vengeance, the only good films they ever released were Mother`s Day & American Nightmare and they DIDN`T MAKE THEM! I wouldn`t "rip you apart" though, you seem a pretty cool guy, a horror fan is always good in my (little red) book! Yup, I know Gunnar and met him & David Hess recently on their UK tour. Very personable guys I have to say. Argento`s best isn`t that gory: Profondo Rosso and IMHO Cronenberg`s best is Videodrome. Of the really graphic, nasty stuff, I like Los Hombres Detras Del Sol/Black Sun 731, Cannibal Holocaust, Lo Squartatore Di New York/New York Ripper, Maniac!, Texas 2 and am partial to Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh & Blood. May favourite 2 films though aren`t strictly horror; Miracle Mile and Russell`s Crimes of Passion.
I HATE VIPCO, then again I hate most Region 2 distributors. VIPCO, DIVID, Tartan, VCI - they`re all crap. I prefer to import discs from USA, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, France & Italy to get the best quality/availability. (W)Anchor Bay are pretty good, though I never much liked The Burning - yawn, very tired old film and have TCM: Family Portrait on VHS. Cheers Lawless...
RE: Zombie Holocaust
Hi Lawless;
Aye, BIG horror fan. Love the italian stuff of Argento, Fulci, Avati, Soavi & some Bava & Deodato. Love the US stuff to a degree, some Craven, Romero, Verhoeven - not all horror by any means, most Carpenter & Cronenberg, some indies like Henenlotter, some Stuart Gordon, BillLustig, Norman J. Warren, Charles Kaufman and a few early Sam Raimi and (although it`s not exclusively horror) David Fincher. Really though there`s too many to name.
I`ve thousands of horror/cult/indie/alt movies on VHS and several hubndred on DVD and a good site for the horror fans is www.splatterhouse.net - best on the `net for horror, you`ll get real respect for your taste, not dismissive remarks of the kind offered by Mr. Shepherd.

RE: Making VCR Copies...
... from DVD`s, now that would be illegal wouldn`t it?
Just check the back of any video/DVD magazine for ads from which you can get a little `Bug-Buster` box. For a couple of hundred quid or so, no Macro problems tape-tape ever again :o)
RE: Zombie Holocaust
Well if you`re going to set yourself up as some sort of authority on film, you need to do rather better than "I was in a sarcastic mood", don`t you Robot ?
What with this and those idiots at the DVD Debate, horror/cult/alternative movie fans seem to be getting a rough deal from you mainstream plastic movie people.
No, Zombie Holocaust is NOWHERE NEAR as good as Cannibal Holocaust and whilst garbage such as Eaten Alive & Cannibal Ferox does tend to give dismissive and superior types such as yourself ammunition to attack cult jungle flicks, you need to ba a little careful about misunderstanding the film`s intent and purpose! Zombie Holocaust, like Fulci`s Zombie Flesh Eaters or Mattei`s Zombie Creeping Flesh is just a romp, fun in the jungle with entertaining action, jungle adventure and some competent gore effects to pass the time. That said, because it aint `art` or Speilberg, does not give you mainstream luvvie types carte blanch to just dismiss it out of hand, know what I mean?!
Have a nice day and off you go back to those Kenneth Brannagh/Peter Greenaway movies...
RE: You definitely seem upset
Really Ponch, chill :)
You`re going to raise your blood pressure
It`s a forum and a DVD player, NOT life & death.

RE: You seem upset
just an observation. Take a pill :)
RE: Well, fancy seeing you here!
The limp gimp Robert John Shepherd clearly has no left side of the brain, `else he`d`ve figured out that Zombie Holocaust is not s`posed to be a `serious` `artistic` movie. More, it`s a romp, to be enjoyed and NOT to be taken seriously. Waaayyy good fun too and indeed it is a welcome change to see a UK horror distributor taking some time and making an effort to secure the best source materials available. Makes a change. VIPCO, VCI and DIVID need to DIE!
