Page 1 of Hero: The greatest HK movie ever?

The Hype is huge and this is said to be the best hong kong movie ever teaming up and all star cast of Zhang Ziyi, Donnie Yen and Jet Li.
The film is suffering major distribution issues in the states. Although its been made, miramax wont release it till late 2003.
Has the movie been released in china? If so any news of the r3 dvd or the UK release?

note that in a later news item further up the page it mentions that the vcd and dvd will be out soon, possibly as an extended version and as the film is currently in the paws of Miramax (throw salt over shoulder and other forms of protection against one of the great satans of oriental film publishers, the other being disney "hey lets edit this down a bit and over dub") so might not show up for a while outside china you might as well keep an eye on the r3 shops and web sites.

Nope, I`m afraid the one mentioned at Play has nothing to do with the Jet Li version - the reviews for Zhang Zimou`s film are starting to come in and it`s looking very good indeed

hero news 223 where it mentions 20th February as the release date for an extended version of the film on DVD/VCD with an additional 20 minutes though whether it`ll have english subtitles we`ll have to wait and see given that Miramugs have the foreign rights in their paws and no intention to release for quite a while

Can`t wait to get home in a couple weeks and watch this in the cinema. Hopefully it`ll still be on then. :) Should be much better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

The VCD is released in China but has no subs.

Oh my god. It`s even more amazing than I imagined after viewing the trailers. This film will be soooo much better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

I can confirm that it is a fantastic film. I haven`t enjoyed a film so much in ages.
