Star Wars OFFICIAL VCD...

chewie (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 28th November 2002, 19:47

I was wondering if anyone has the official Star Wars trilogy VCD`s. They are NOT bootlegs, but rather official VCD`s released in Asia.

I just want to know what the quality is like as I`ve heard it is better than VHS although one big down point is that its not widescreen but crappy pan and scan.

yeah it`s pan and scan. The quality is nothing great. I noticed alot of pixelating going on and each movie spans two disks!
I just bought it cause im a star wars nut, i dont actually watch them!

The quality is good, but does vary from disc to disc. Empire Strikes Back seems to be the best transfer, along with some of the crispest sound I`ve heard from a VCD. And it all comes in a nice box too. mmmmmm box.

l got these too and agree with whats being said. The picture quality is not that great in places.

Sites have been claiming all year stock is low. I sold mine on to a friend and will wait for the dvd box set in 2009 or whenever

Are they worth £10 for the boxset?

Also, since I don`t have a VCR wired up at the moment is watching it on my DVD player with Surround Sound better than VHS?

I will not be mentioning any "illegal" sites, but here are a couple of places to get the VCD box set:

http://www.coolvcd.com/
http://www.vcdgallery.com/

I have not used these sites so I can`t tell you what the service is like. They seem a bit dear though as I`m paying £10 for the set, but I`m buying them off an individual.
