Does anyone know what the main difference is between this film and the one released months ago (no talking about extras here - just film).

I`ve noticed tha tthe one released last year was 183 minutes and this Vista Series 184 ... doesn`t seem much of a director`s cut to me !!

Received this boxset this morning and I have to say it is absloute class - - even the film is better and the sound is just something else.

For those that are like me and have a denon 1802 or onkyo - - the dts track on this set does work unlike the old ones.

The reason for the minimal change in run-time is scene replacement. Many of the scenes are more gory or more explicit but are essentially the same scenes.

Ever played Quake? Gore on/off options? :D

OK well its been watched and there is a hell of a lot more gore, and i mean a lot. The Pearl attack is quite sick in bits , up there and even beyond Saving Private Ryan. Some love scenes cut out like the beach and more fighting put in.

There is still a sub story of love but reduced a bit - - but not enough if this is the reason you didnt like the film in the first place.

Overall - -it is definitely better to me in sound (class), and story - - more gore less love = better. Great packaging as well.

If anyone bought the older version on region 1 then a voucher comes with the box for a $10 refund - -quite fair for once.

Anyone know if the $10 voucher is any use to us here in the UK? Region 1 stuff usually says only for sale to people in America/Canada doesn`t it?
