RE: www.filmsfirst.net

1. I agree with the others, good customer service is essential. A contact telephone number is always handy

2. Letting us know if a film is `in stock` or `on order` before we decide to buy

3. Competitive pricing, maybe a slightly cheaper price for pre-orders

4. I agree that not charging before despatch is much preferred by most customers

5. The opportunity to cancel your order easily before it enters the `processing` stage

6. Finally - free p+p

Good luck

RE: The Thing - worth getting?

it`s still one of my all time favourite horror movies. Good story and genuine suprises. Well worth £6.99 in my view.

RE: 2 for £25 at GAME Stores

Not sure if it`s been posted already but they have selected titles available together online at http://www.game.uk.com/lowdown.asp?tab=other&guide_id=648

RE: Six feet under - At last

I ordered it yesterday from dvdsoon for about £37 - think amazon.ca may be a bit cheaper but customs may be a problem

RE: Others faulty

I don`t know if this is a silly suggestion but does your dvd set-up have dts sound? I ask this because The Others has that screen at the beginning giving you the choice of dts or dolby but dts is the default setting...you will have to highlight `dolby` and then press `select` or `enter`.

Like I said, maybe this isn`t the cause of your problem - but that is what happened when my brother borrowed my copy and played it on his machine.

RE: Buffy Season 5 £32.99??????!!!!!!

I have always found splash to be a pretty good company. In my experience they certainly do charge on despatch, not before........ good news

RE: Brotherhood of wolf - HMV exclusive ?

it seems like the Canadian version HAS got both soundtracks - it says so here on dvdsoon`s details

http://www.dvdsoon.com/showtitledetails.xml?uid=38723

.......just wanted to add that i`ve had no problems with dvdsoon either, I understand some people have though but I have always found my orders are sent out as they come in stock, sometimes a couple weeks before the release date. Whenever I have a query, instead of emails I call them direct (about 5-10p a minute to Canada) and have found them very friendly and helpful.

Of course if you`ve had problems then you`ll have every reason to not want to use them again - I would be the same.

RE: Spider-Man Limited Edition Collector`s Gift Set

"tried to order on dvd soon but they wanted $45 dollars delivery as well as the $45 for the film.how did you get it for £21??????"

The postage is $4.99 (via Canada Post) for this. Sounds like you were looking at the courier (purolator) option of $44+, definately not advisable.

At the current exchange rates you`d actually be getting this for under £21 from dvdsoon now.

RE: Brotherhood of the wolf

DVDsoon have the 3-disc deluxe edition (release October 1st) for pre-order at £17.50 (current exchange rates) including postage.

http://www.dvdsoon.com/showtitledetails.xml?uid=38723 if interested.

...2 disc version also available for around £11 including postage

RE: Army of Darkness: Bootleg Edition

The region 1 THX version seems to be on sale for about £13 including postage from http://www.dvdsoon.com/showtitledetails.xml?uid=5306 and it says at the bottom of the page that it includes `alternate endings` - two problems though, it is showing as `on order` so there`s no knowing how long it will take before they send it to you - and your credit card will be charged as soon as you place the order. I have had no problems with DVDsoon, but don`t know how quick they are for getting stuff that isn`t already in stock.

dvdboxoffice.com seem to have it as well but no idea if theirs is in stock either. I don`t know if this is the version you are looking for - maybe someone else could confirm this for you.

RE: Anyone received their replacement Terminator or Silence of the Lambs DVD`s yet from MGM?

My Terminator arrived in the post this morning - same `Terminator` packaging as I sent them in with two new discs.

RE: Simpson r1 vs Simpson r2

Simpson and Delilah is an episode. Guest starring Harvey Fierstein I think it was when Homer finds a hair restorer treatment and rises through the ranks at the power-plant after he gets a full head of hair. Maybe they cut some of Fierstein`s stuff for being a bit suggestive?

RE: Back to the Future AUGUST release(?!?!) and cheapest price DVD`s challenge....

Just ordered the December Region 1 release from DVDsoon - they`re based in Canada but I would presume their release will be the same as the US version - £19 including postage at the current exchange rate - not bad.

If anyone interested http://www.dvdsoon.com/studio.xml?uid=89 click on the add to cart button to purchase. It`s listed twice, the one lower down the list is the widescreen version

................only setback is they`ll charge your card as soon as you order.

RE: Pearl Harbor - Director`s Cut

Anyone know if the $10 voucher is any use to us here in the UK? Region 1 stuff usually says only for sale to people in America/Canada doesn`t it?

RE: simpsons season 2 and Barton Fink on DVD in france

cd-wow now have it in both regions 1 and 2 http://www.cd-wow.com/searchresults_2.php?searchfield=simpsons region 1 is the cheapest at £21.99 with link from Bargain Buckets forum but release date August 6th.

dont think you get the extra £1 off if you go through AOL, I had to use Internet Explorer.

RE: The Big Brother 3 Thread

Adelle must have been truly shocked to be booed so badly tonight, I (almost) felt sorry for her. Was I hearing things or did Jade`s mum tell Davina she was looking haggard and ask her if the baby had kept her up all night? How Rude!

RE: Play.com pre releases for £11.99

ah right, well it`s about time the studios did their bit considering we`ve taken to dvd as consumers so well. Could never understand the cost of renting from certain stores (£3.50 or more) compared to buying, mainly from region 1 sources for only 3 times that amount - or less, with all the added extras that rental copies miss out.

Play.com pre releases for £11.99

It`s a while off, but Play.com have quite a few movies for pre-order at the above price including Mothman Prophecies, Scooby Doo, The Time Machine, Collateral Damage, The Majestic, Showtime and We Were Soldiers. Many of these are not out til October/November but there`s nothing stopping you pre-ordering while the price is good, then removing if you find out they`re rubbish films (and maybe all of these films are).

RE: Back To The Future Trilogy R1 - £22.99!!!

DVDsoon are offering it on pre-order (region 1-Canada, 17th December) for about £18.75 - that is the price including postage. Only problem is they take the money off your card when you order - I suppose at least you know what your paying and don`t get hit by changes in the exchange rate - the url is http://www.dvdsoon.com/studio.xml?uid=89 (look at the bottom of the page) if anyone is interested.

RE: LOTR 4-discer @ under £20 (Region 1 Canadian)

I took that into account when I posted. It`s actually about £17.50 for the dvds, then the rest is the postage - of course exchange rates change all the time so that price may go up or down.

LOTR 4-discer @ under £20 (Region 1 Canadian)

I know it`s a bit early but thought someone might be interested in this pre-order price of just over £19 (at current exchange rates) including delivery. http://www.dvdsoon.com/studio.xml?uid=83 - It is four months away though and when you order, payment is taken straight away but, thought i`d let you all know.

p.s. Blade 2 at just over £11 too - but it only says 1 discer.

RE: simpsons season 2 and Barton Fink on DVD in france

I ordered mine from dvdsoon too (good prices) - just be careful you dont get the French version (v.f.) by mistake - I think the link should be http://www.dvdsoon.com/showtitledetails.xml?uid=36049

RE: Royal Tenenbaums - Criterion Edition

The one I have (from futureent) states region 1 NTSC on the back of the box. It lloks like the Canadian version though - don`t know if one from America is any different.
