Page 1 of Army of Darkness? Shopsmart ending?

Please can anyone tell me which version of this disk to buy? All I want is the version which has the shopsmart ending. When I watched the film at the cinema, this was the ending which was screened, so I get a little confused when I read reviews that talk about the alternative ending. From what I read `shopsmart` was the alternative and the `planet of the apes` style was the original. I nearly bought the Bootleg Edition but I dont think this has `shopsmart` on it. I dont really want to pay big bucks for a LTD EDIT so can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks!

Never seent his film so I got to ask, What is the Shopsmart ending? isnt that a website?

Maybe `shopsmart` isnt quite the right way of explaining it, it was a long time ago since I last seen that ending. Basically its the ending where instead of waking up in the future after taking too many drops from his sleeping potion to find the world in ruins, hes`s back at work in the K Mart or S Mart, (can`t remeber what it`s called) and is attacked by a witch. Great ending, much more fun than the other. Mind you if you`ve never seen it then this wont much to you, but yes I think its also a website!

In the film, Ash works in a place called S-mart, and their catchphrase is:

"Shop smart, shop S-mart".

I`m also looking for an edition, which has this ending, as the version I have is the directors cut.

I knew I got shopsmart from somewhere! I think the ending is on the Collectors LTD EDiTs, but your looking at battling for it on auction sites for it at around £35. Surely there`s another version which isn`t a LTD EDiT. Good luck in your search!

The "Shop smart, shop S-Mart!" ending is on the totally UNlimited edition THX Anchor Bay release which you can get for a fairly reasonable price from most American sites.
This disc has the S-Mart ending on the film while the "Planet of the Apes" ending is included as an extra, it also has a featurette called "The Men Behind The Army".
However the Director`s Cut is also a great disc, even if the picture does get a bit dodgy at times.

Thanks for that Marty! Do you know if this version is uncut, because the video copy I own (ex-rental) is badly edited in the windmill scene. I`ve found a copy of the Canadian release for around £24 which I`m tempted to buy.

The Windmill scene doesn`t really exist anywhere in a "complete" version.
On the Director`s Cut disc it is a lot longer but still incomplete, the rest of the scene being included as a deleted scene ( where we learn why Ash walks into the mirror!)
On the THX disc the Windmill scene WILL be cut, however it`s the same length as it was in the cinema.
If you really like the film you wouldn`t regret buying both discs.
