Advent E-go, K6-2 450 Mhz, 64 Megs Memory, 8.7 Gig Hdd, No Floppy drive comes with keyboard, mouse and Windows 98 SE and some other software £70. This machine is non upgradeable but would do for a first time user! Also has on board sound, graphics and modem (I think)
Find them in store @ Currys

Is it just your local Currys (which one?) or is it nationwide?
RE: Cheap PC, Nothing mind blowing.
why is it non-upgradeable? I mean what cant you do, cases cost £60 on their own and if you can just take the case and the HDD you`ll already be onto a winner.
<OB>
To answer your questions:- Nationwide..
Non-upgradable, Apparently the HDD is custom built, Not your standard HDD, Limited space to expand even if you could find suitable upgrades, And the case has some type of tamper proof glue try and pull it apart and you`d end up cracking the case, Its a PC world jobbie if you did want to upgrade and we all know how cheap thay are. But for £70 who cares?
"cases cost £60 on their own" ?? Is your`s gold plated?
My new "Nokia" style case cost me £30 new and its about £20 now!
Or did you mean with Hard drive?
Went into curry`s tonight in Basingstoke, they knew nothing about it.
RE: Cheap PC, Nothing mind blowing.
I rang two local (W London) branches who also knew nothing about it and then I tried the Currys customer service (...you are held in a Q.......) who tried the Currys index and the PC World index and found nothing on the Advent E-go.
Could it have been just the one branch? And did they have any more? £70 is really a bargain - the original kit had 4 USB ports and built in networking as well as a modem.
Mmmmmmm Strange,
I was told by the guys in my local store that this deal was going to be national instore deal. Apparently the stores have a large surplus of these machines as thay didnt sell very well in the market given thay were not easy upgradeable and only really targeted for the first time user. My store had 20 unit with 12 being sold in the first 4 days of the offer with more arriving in stock within 3-5 days. Ill take a trip back today and confirm the offer details again.
Ill keep you all posted.
