Best place to buy batterys (for my Kodak DX3700 camera :-)

r8sso (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 31st January 2002, 12:29

Could someone please tell me the cheapest place to buy batterys? Now that I have a Kodak DX3700 camera :-) I`ll need to stock up on them as your only supposed to 10 shots with it before they run out!!!

Does it take AA batterys?!

Thanks
r8sso

Not sure if they`re the cheapest, but http://www.7dayshop.com is an excellent place for all sorts - I buy my camera film there (Fuji Superia 200 - 135-36 - £1.30) - they also have some excellent deals on batteries, rechargeables, rechargers and digital camera memory cards (32Mb SmartMedia card - £9.75) etc.
Interestingly, they operate out of Jersey, and send their stuff in bundles woth £17.99......
.....anyway, I thought the DX3700 had a rechargeable thing in the dock which we`re supposed to be getting....
...BTW, are you the same r8sso that I saw discussing the Sony FX401 laptop DVD drive on a different forum? I`ve been trying to get mine going and haven`t quite succeeded yet.... also, I`ve worked out a way of accessing some bandwidth to get LoTR downloaded (thread in another forum) - you mentioned you could burn it for me onto CDR, but a URL would be good enough - check my details for an email address to avoid any naughty posts.....

yes, it does take AA`s.
I saw some cheap Nimh batteries with Charger at Woolworths the other day, I think it was about £7 for 4 batteries with charger (I could be completely wrong though).
They were not particularly high-capacity batteries (1100mah or 1300mah), but you can get better `photographic` batteries at Dixons - 1500mah are £10 for 4, and 1700mah are £12 for 4. I bet you can get them cheaper though!

The one kodak supplies for £8 is basically 2 1600mah Nimh batteries taped together.

If you don`t want rechargeables, Richer Sounds is probably your best bet - 20 duracell for £5.

I may be wrong, but I don`t think we`re going to get the Dock with it. It states that it can be sold as a separate item, and I don`t think this offer includes it. But hey, whatever, it`s still a fabulous deal.

I`m sure we will (says he getting worried again). It should come under `accessories` and I made sure I asked the woman I spoke to this morning whether it was the whole offer we were getting at last....

Just called them again (only 2 mins to get through this time) and they confirmed everything is as it was in the original offer.

Richard

It`s more than likely that that was me, I do get around different forums quite abit :-) I`ve given up on the flashing the DVD drive for my laptop. I dont watch DVDs on it enough to risk screwing it up.

As for LoTR, i`ll drop you a mail.

r8sso

PS. I dont think we do get the docking station...

OK Kids, I didn`t order the camera cause I have a digicamera anyway and I thought it was greedy to have another that was marginally better but also seemed to suffer from battery performance anyway. The cheapest place I know to get Batteries is Richer Sounds. Depending when yo go they have 4 x AA Duracells for 99p or £1.49.

also the other day I was in Tescos. 12 x AA Duracells and a free (!!!) personal stereo for £4.99...what`s all that about!!!

Interesting things about these cameras... if they`re the ones with the docking bay/stand. If you put it down on the recharger thing with standard batteries instead of the one that comes with it then it fries the batteries/camera.

Atleast the lesser model we sell at Toys R Us will (DX3215)
