Free Sky+ with TVs at Currys

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 2nd December 2007, 19:21

Just invested in a new large screen TV.

If you buy at Currys they have an offer at the moment, buy any TV (I think over 100 quid) you can get Sky+ for just the installation cost (£30). They may try and charge you 29 quid but the manager at the store I dealt with said they just discount that off the cost of the TV.
Add to that the fact that they agreed to match the Web price which was a full £160 cheaper than the store price and it`s quite an attractive package.
Total saving £189.

Hi

any idea if this offer is open to existing (standard) sky subscirbers?

Sure is.
I am (was?) one.
Look on the promo labels and there`s 2 separate codes one for new and one for existing.

If the sales person says no ask for the manager as it definitely works for existing subscribers.

When the price and the offer makes it worthwhile why not.
All they`re doing is putting my name and details through to Sky and putting a nice big unopened box in the back of my car.

not sure where he is going to buy the telly from yet, so went into currys yesterday and paid the £29 for the box (assured brand new btw), and £30 for installation - on the 17th. Bargain.

cheers Snaps.

Looking at a few other forums, its very hit and miss over whether they`ll discount or not. Some people are reporting that Currys have flogged it to them at £29 + £30 installation when they haven`t bothered buying a TV at all.

Personally, I went into the Redditch Currys to buy a 19" Samsung for my Mum and they wouldn`t budge on the £300 price tag of the TV or the price of the Sky+.

The only "deal" they would do was £30 off the TV if i took 5 year insurance on the telly costing about a fiver a month :D Apparently they "wouldn`t be making any profit on the TV if they lowered the price, its suppossed to be £350 but we have £50 off it at the moment" .I decided to take my business elsewhere to that other big buyer of TV`s we all know and love as amazon. Their price? £250 delivered. Slightly cheaper than the £350 original price and the £300 sale price currys charge

Exactly what i did. They wouldnt budge on a discount on the tv (samsung 32" LCD - looking for the £30 off) and gave the same reasons. But the sky+ deal on its own is still an excellent offer - especially for existing subcribers. And i can always get the tv cheaper from elsewhere, and most likely save that £30 anyway.
