Page 1 of 2001 Box Set from Ezydvd not arriving at all!

Not bad for my first experience of trying to order from Ezydvd, although to be honest, it seems to be Warner Bros who have cocked things up. here`s the email I`ve just received :

Dear Alan,

Unfortunately we have recently been advised by Warner Home Video that
the release of 2001: Space Odyssey (2 disc set) has now been delayed
indefinitely. This decision was made after ongoing problems with the manufacture of this disc.

There is a chance that they may release it at some stage next year, however this is still to be confirmed.

Having said this, we have decided to delete this title from our site,
so regrettably we have no choice but to delete your order from our system.

We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, however this has
been beyond
our control.

Shame its your first ezydvd experience, in the past they`ve been pretty much excellent for me. If you find the 2001 box anywhere else let us know...

I`ve tried peeking around other Oz sites, but I assume all of them will be having the same distribution problems. I know I saw one for around 20 quid (inc. delivery). I think I`ll wait until they get their s**t together and bring it out again next year. Could do with saving some money :-)

The price of the box set was first mentioned first under this forum, where there was a short but informative discussion about the relative merits of such a great bargain. As I now wished to point out the complete lack of a bargain in the end, I thought I`d finish it off in the same forum.

I doubt any other region 4 sellers have it if ezydvd cant get it. End of story until next year, maybe.

It`s about £30 from dvdboxoffice - region 1 of course. Maybe region 2?

After long and careful thought, and also after a few beers, there are worse things that could happen. I doubt very much that a market such as Australia will ever be denied the 2001 box set, so I`m prepared to wait - especially as I`m waiting for a few others this month anyway. May as well save the pennies.

Alan, I too waited for this set, and, although it`s disappointing to encounter this long a delay, I found this set in stock in my local HMV,(they`ve opened a larger/newer superstore in Swansea), and was aghast to see a price of £39.99!! For once it may be just worth the wait! BTW, my local Makro trade warehouse have been doing The Shining from the Kubrick collection for £7.99 + vat. If only they could do 2001 for the same, it might be worth a go. One can only hope!

Where`s this new HMV then? I`m from Swansea myself and will be back to visit the folks at Christmas (getting fed up with the one in the Quadrant)....mind yout, if there`s a Makro as well....something tells me they won`t be seeing much of me.
