RE: HDMI DVD Player with 5.01 Surround Sound = £40 Tevion DVD-8000
Thanks to original poster,
Bought on Thursday looking good so far, great clear picture and good selection of discs the DVD player plays.
New selection of HD-DVD`s on the market at the end of the month (£17.99 @ play.com) so will use it with them.
No idea in regard to multi-region but i`m sure it won`t be long before someone finds it!
Thanks again,
Phil.

Translated by Babelfish from a German review here.:
The Codefree procedure: Drawer open over the remote maintenance 4 times enter the number 9 and then the code thus:
9999 1 for code 1
9999 2 for code 2
u.s.w
9999 9 for Codefree
RE: HDMI DVD Player with 5.01 Surround Sound = £40 Tevion DVD-8000
Purchased my Tevion dvd 8000 yesterday. Have hooked it up with my Sagem HD-D45S TV using the supplied HDMI lead. I just get a `no signal` message on the t.v. I have entered the menu on the dvd and tried to select HD from the video tab, but it dosn`t seem to allow me to do this.
I have tried the player with a scart lead and it plays o.k.
What am I doing wrong. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi..
I had this problem with my LG player at first.
Is there a resolution button on the remote?
If so, keep pressing it until 1080i appears on the front display, then pic should appear.
(Ps..I don`t know about the Aldi model, but may work on the same principle as the LG :))

Bought this on Thursday but cannot get it to play a DIVX movie recorded on a DVD rewritable disc. Am I doing something wrong. Can it actually play DIVX files.
RE: HDMI DVD Player with 5.01 Surround Sound = £40 Tevion DVD-8000
I bought this player last week. I managed to get change the output picture to HD even though I dont have a HD screen (im using a LCD monitor standard def.) so to the guy who was trying - im sure it is possible. Of course I have switched my setting back as no use having HD output with no HD screen.
To the guy above trying to play Divx - I have used many Divx movies on it and its fine - however it will not play HD resolution divx files (of which a lot of new tv stuff is).
I download some firmware from here: http://www.dv-rec.de/download/firmware/player/index.shtml
I downloaded the Version alf6u. I put the CD in, turned the player on and it said if I wanted to upgrade the firmware - I said yes. It then said `Do not turn player off` and was like that for two hours. I decided to go for it and restarted the player - totally dead! I had killed it. I took it back to Aldi who replaced it no questions asked but I thought id share this in case any of you want to try it - beware! However maybe I was just unlucky.
This player also plays Nero Digital.
Finally - there is a hack on the net to add USB sockets to this player - im going to give it a miss as dont want another dead player but maybe its usefull for any dare devils out there.
