The 8 hrs playback is a down point, it would be ideal for those using it for data storage and mp3. The card slot would come in handy on holiday if the camera card got full :) Still looking at the Sony Hi Md 900 (£150 ish), I`ve always liked the minidisc format.
RE: S Media 20g mp3 player £100 + vat
i hate to say it, being the long time supporter/early adopter that i was (used to be a huge MD fan) but mini-disc is going the way of the dodo, i know that will spark an argument, but it is, it`s slowly disapearing from other manufacturers production lines & very soon sony will be the only ones pushing it :( compared to hd mp3 players/recorders MD can`t survive, sony have even started to incorperate (as a native format) mp3, surely thats the death knoll ?
again :( very sad :( but inevitable imo

Don`t mean to drift off topic from the original post but...santa brought my son an iriver h140. It`s the only reason I`ve stalled off buying the Sony. The iriver is fantastic and it has seriously got me thinking about the hard drive option.
RE: S Media 20g mp3 player £100 + vat
i know exactly what you mean :) if you have a mooch through some of the othe "mp3" threads you`ll see the struggle i`m having finding the right player :( problem is i wanna load it up with audio books, each book is splitt down to the size/file structure of the original cd`s, so for say, harry potter book 5, thats 22 cd`s each containing around 65 tracks each, cddb can`t find em to name em (at least not in any consistant mannor) so software like i-tunes f***s up the track order cos it see`s loads of stuff with the same track title (ie track 1 + track 1) and lumps them all together >:( so i`m looking for a player that will let me drag the folders over individualy & leave them as they are, just like the cheapie chinese flash drive players do :) so after looking at sony/apple/HP/creative it looks like the only player that will do what i want is the cheapie one, :)
