WHAT BUDGET PLAYER DO PEOPLE RECOMENDED
I can only really comment on one player and that is the Warfdale 750s, there is no problem with the multi-region hack and Tesco were selling them for £100.
If you`re looking for a simple player to hook up to a TV, the Wharfy should be fine. But if you`re going to be using surround sound systems (DD or DTS), then the Aiwa DV370 or LG3350 are ideal, because they have more sound output options (AFAIR). Then again, if you`re using DD or DTS, you should be asking yourself why you`re buying a budget player...
I don`t know if it`s still available but I got an eclipse 595 from Richer Sound. It`s multi region and macrovision free out of the box. At least mine and the guy who recommended machine`s are. It cost £159 and you can get four years cover for about a tenner. It seems to play anything round and shiny and its got Dolby and DTS as well. The sound is low on TV. I don`t know if that`s because I haven`t got home cinema kit and I`m not using my hi-fi amp. So far it`s played the problem disks like Gladiator and Matrix and extras. The only thing I`ve had a prob with is El Mariachi it only plays the directors commentary but that could be the disk.
If u are gonna be using the dvd player to watch vcd`s too then dont buy LG they dont play any vcd`s.
Buy Samsung 511 or Philips.
The LG3350 does play VCD`s with a new handset hack, but not SVCD.
