Hold on, did I miss something in the Budget? Gordon Brown didn`t reduce VAT to 14.9%...It`s been 17.5% for years and years and years, BTW this was a temporary Tax brought in in 1973, much like your income tax 200 years ago `just` to pay for the Napoleonic wars!...effin` Goverments, lying bastards all of them >:( ...err sorry got carried away there :D
Erm...
....says it all really :/

VAT is still 17.5%, but if you start at a price that`s already got VAT added, then you only need to take off 14.9% to get to the VAT-free price (trust me, I`m an accountant!)
£117.50 * 14.9/100 = £17.50 :)
....or divide it by 1.175 = £100 which is what you pay.
(this way you do 1 sum and don`t have to do the subtraction)
Trust me...I`m an idiot. ;)
SN
Yup, to get vat off the total is divided by 1.175, you cannot use £10 voucher and the VAT free at the same time!
EG, a £9.99 CD contains just £1.49 VAT, the ex VAT price is £8.51 x 1.175 = £9.99!
I tried to use both codes, got bounced back, clearly i removed the VAT free code!
Only good if you gonna spend mucho money but you might as well go to CD-WoW!
So what is anyone buying VAT free. For my first transaction got a few DVDs and games.
Did think Underworld, Italian Job, Red Dwarf IV were cheap in the offer. Angel Season 4 was cheap too.
And the number 1 album by Katie Melud was cheap in CD - approx £7.
