What do you think of it - quality wise?
Does the auto switch work OK?

I have one of these
me too, albeit the older version, it`s just that i was in argos yesterday and saw a guy
buying one of the new switchers, it looks smart..it`s also powered.
information on it is not too clever though, just says supports dvd, satellite etc.
Ste.
why not buy both, then 16 day money back the one you dislike?
Or they also have this Hitachi one now @£14.99 looks quite good too.

Info on Masterplug Auto Scart Switcher from Argos
To help the Group decide if this product is for them:
I have just had to return the Automatic Unit (Masterplug) back to Argos as it
a. caused signal loading problems on my Grundig Freeview Box, resulting in drop outs and all kinds of problems :(
- Although it is powered, I don`t think it has any kind of boosting circuitry. To be fair, I was hanging two VCRs off the Digibox SCART - the Auto Unit does not have a A->B Record function like the Argos manual switch
b. used a `first on wins` auto selection. The problem being that I wanted to leave the Digbox On and let the DVD cut in when it switches on and out when switched off. With my setup, the Digibox and VCR1 and VCR2 need to all be off before Unit auto selects next active port.
- So the complete reverse is needed - `last on wins`.
It has a manual override swich (and REALLY bright Blue Selection LEDs) - but for me, this defeats the idea of an auto box.
It does RGB and Widescreen Selection, is a handsome Silver colour (did I mention those cool BRIGHT Blue LEDS?) and can be either vertically or horizontally mounted with a clip on stand.
It has a real UK phone helpdesk (although no real technical knowledge of the product) but the Masterplug WWW is effectively useless as it iseems devoted to registering its Surge Protection equipt.
Finally it is the cheapest 3 input auto-switcher around (£30) and you can easily take it back should it not work for you, unlike when buying from some places.
I hope this helps you decide if the item is for you
I have a need to connect 2 VCRs, a Freeview digibox and DVD all into the single RGB-enabled SCART on the TV. My new Thomson VTH7090 VCR unfortunately uses RGB to send its menus, so I can`t use the TV`s 2nd non-RGB SCART, and need to record from the Digibox to at least one VCR.
I tried a single RGB SCART chain of all devices - all but the DVD have twin SCARTS - but the picture quality from the last on the chain (DVD) was not good.
Can anyone advise the best way to do this? All ideas gratefully accepted
RE: Info on Masterplug Auto Scart Switcher from Argos
Got one yesterday - great bit of kit. Does exactly what it says on the tin, although the sockets on mine are marked up wrong on the back (ie DVD & Aux were wrong way round)
It is being used with:
Pace NTL Box
Tosh 330 DVD
PS2
Great picture, no interference at all.
Cheers

The one on Ebay looks pretty good for the money, as long as you can put up with only having one device turned on at a time. For example, this would mean that if you were recording something from TV, and so the VCR was on, you might have problems watching Sky, or playing DVDs. Personally, my Sky is rarely turned off, so bugger all use for me, but if it`s what you need, pretty good for a tenner inc P&P
