That looks a good deal. Any idea why they say "Compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP Only" ?

Could it be that the HD is already formatted to NTFS?

that can not be right £199+vat for a 2.4 athlon, is it the same sort of system you`d get from pcworld etc etc

Maybe because you can`t get drivers for Windows 98 or earlier? Some manufacturers don`t support the older versions of Windows any more.

No. It`s just a base unit - you don`t get a monitor, and you don`t get an operating system with it (you have to provide your own).

Those "in the know" computer people say they wont touch celeron with a bargepole and only go for athlon or pentium(only 4 or earlier pentiums??). Don`t know whether this argument is only really valid for serious gamers (with large graphics applications?) or whether its across the board. You will have guessed that I am not "in the know".

There are a select few who like to whinge about Celeron`s, granted it may not be as fast as a AMD or P4 processor, the celeron is a poor mans AMD or P4 but if all your likely to do is potter around the net, rip a few cds, watch dvd`s etc etc then this is an ideal base unit to have, and for 200 notes....... Good enough!
