So, for one reason or another I was in Lidl (very nice pizzas at 99p) and saw the Cat Home Theatre system, checked it out on here and really didn`t want to part with any cash for something that might be a load of old toss.
Then I remembered a website that i was lookingat, for something for my wife for Xmas.
Has anyone ever bought gear from overstock.com?
There`s a lot of home theatre stuff, a lot of it branded (Philips, Harmon Kardon) and with the pound being so strong at the moment quite possibly some serious bargains to be had.
I`m not too sure about the postage costs but it might be worth a look. There`s full systems with multi region players and

Is it worth it? I dunno... at the minute I`m limited to a very poor cobbled together system thats probably worth less than £50

great! but,what about the customs and stuff? plus some of these us sites only ship in usa or canada.good idea,though. this pathetic customs limit of 18.00 is ridiculous.this govt.want to be seen as the foreunner in the push for everyone to be online,ie.payment of benefits,it communications and so on,so then why dont they encourage everybody by getting rid of these barriers. 8)

Because there are too many UK retailers` groups and outfits like the BPI with British politicians in their back pockets.

go to www.douwantit.com and sign up. Overstock.com use the service which links in with the thread.

They have you register and install a widget on your system tray. Now when you go to a foreign store which uses their service a popup, erm pops up whenever you go to a product page. Hit it and it will tell you in the original currency and yours what the base cost, vat, carriage and totals are plus delivery time form that country. Put the product in their shopping cart and pay.

Job done. And the prices at overstock are pretty damn good even with vat and carriage.
