Well I had the opposite sort of service from Empire at Christmas. Ordered a mini hifi online which was in stock (according to the online status). Was rung 2 days later by Empire to say it was not in stock and they had no idea when it would be in again ... if at all. They suggested I get it elsewhere. A few days later the web site was still claiming that the hifi was in stock... so I wrote and asked why. No reply. I asked again the next day...no reply. So I ordered it again... no confirmation one way or the other. Then an offer came up from DVD reviewer which was better so I bought that and cancelled my order from Empire. Again no confirmation. A week later the goods arrived from Empire even though I had cancelled them. Complete lack of communication.

Still.... good luck to you!

I`ve seen a couple of reviews on the internet and they seem pretty favourable although one said that the speaker cable appeared flimsy and the treble sound was too tinny.

Does anyone know if this can be made multi-region? I`ve searched the net but can`t find anything relating to this particular model.

They are both here now, thought some of the people above might be interested in a review.....

Main unit is very heavy, study and solid. Finish is excellent and oozes quality. Connectivity is very good, though I would like to see 3 scarts rather than two. However with other options to use this isn`t going to be a problem. Picture quality is not good enough to rival a decent £200-250 player, but is strong enough to be respectable with blacks and whites clearly defined.

The speakers, contrary to the review snippet given above are weighty for their size and metal housed. They are very sturdy and small enough to be hidden in the corners of the room keeping the missus happy. Treble is clearly defined and the speakers are perfectly matched, with dialogue and action flowing well around the room. The sub is adequate for an all-in-one system but not worthy of real action movies. It is the cheapest part of the system and I would be disappointed with it had I spent the rrp on it.

Everything comes with the system - cables, ariels, remote, batteries, speaker mounts etc but the cable is bell wire and makes the whole thing sound like it`s underwater - upgrading it makes all the difference. The only real issue I have is that for an rrp of £450 ish the speaker terminals on the speakers and unit are spring clips not binding posts so there`s a limit to the cable you can use with it.

All in all, for £450 this is overpriced as it needs another £50 spending on decent cable, is region 2 only and could use a meatier sub (£80 Richer Sounds?) but for £150 this is a real bargain when compared tot he dross seen in Argos for the same money.
