Remember Westy `arguing/discussing` the merits of PAYG a while back but still don`t see them...
For £180 a year you can get the phone, 1200 cross-network minutes and £70 odd worth of messaging etc.

PAYG. Why?

Why would you want a 7250i anyway ? They have a really naff display compared to the new models coming out now.

I was in the Orange shop today and tried out the new Motorola V500 which is due out in December.
It`s an amazingly good phone with a brilliant clear colour display.
Oh yes, and it will be given to me free by my employers in January.

Some people have to have PAYG as they don`t pass credit checks for whatever reason.
While others have PAYG because they are barking mad.

I take it you two aint got kids then. Giving a 14 year old a contract handset then after the first month and 125 sheets lighter TRY getting it off them without world war 3 breaking out..... it doesnt make for happy families.... see where Im going with this?

Its for the above reason I posted this deal, its something the parents of this board MIGHT want to buy their kids for xmas ;)

But I thought all parents were worried about their kids brains being fried from the radiation.

It just amazes me when I see these parents protesting about mobile phone masts near schools, when all the kids have mobile phones themselves.

Hippocrates. :/

Isnt hippocrates the philosopher off Bill and Teds excellent adventure?

Anyway....i got this phone cheaply from a phone mad upgrade mate and im on a PAYG. Some months i can stick 20-30 quid on and some months i dont even get through a tenner.

PAYG. Why? Because some people just dont use their phones enough to justify an expensive contract, but want the looks and functionality of a modern mobile. Simple pimple.

But for only £20 more you get the phone and 1200 minutes, texts etc. Why is that an expensive contract?

I agree that some people can`t get credit etc. so yes that is a good reason and also kids running up bills is a possibility but can`t you impose a monthly limit with the Network provider?

PAYG, Why?

Easy, those damn contracts are a rip off and the operators know you`re going to go outside your minutes at one point and charge you the earth. Also, the customer service of many of the big companies is utter pants. Orange and Vodafone and also O2 have failed not just myself, but quite a few others as well with their awful service to contract customers wanting answers to a query.

PAYG offers you one VERY important factor - FLEXIBILITY. If you don`t want to talk for a month, fine, don`t buy any talktime. With a contract, if you don`t use your text/minutes, you`ve wasted at least £20 of your hard earned for the month. PAYG in the same situation has cost you nothing and you can do what you like with your £20. I learnt valuable lessons from having a contract phone and just for those who think i`m a PAYG nutter i do have a contract which is good value but as soon as december comes i`m cancelling and sticking with PAYG for good. I don`t want to be tied up for 12months to some up its ass provider just so i can have the latest spanky phone. NOTHING is free in this world, people must accept that! Do you think they`d give you the phone and then not expect any monthly return? If i want a nice phone, i`ll go out and buy one sim free and know i`m not in any danger of running up high bills. Don`t say it`ll never happen to you cause it will, to think it won`t is unrealistic.

I`m not trying to knock contracts cause to many people they`re a good lifeline, i just think that pay as you go is keeping your money in your pocket and spending when you like, not having £20 or more shorn from your bank even when you haven`t used half your monthly quota.

Oh, and failing credit checks for mobiles? You`re either

Not on the voters roll and this is your first time with the provider
Don`t have any account history in the last 12 months with the provider
Bankcrupt,in which you won`t be able to have one as they simply can`t offer you credit

You don`t need a good credit score to get a mobile, i work in credit management and have been told so by many people. The worst thing is that the providers want the business so badly, they`ll even give you an `instant pass` on their credit check if you pay £60 up front with a credit or debit card, which they hold until the contract starts then refund to your bank account within 10 days. No wonder people get into debt so easily....

For now, i`m sticking to pay as you go - i learnt my lesson in life and i`m not afraid to admit it and this is just my opinion of course ;)
