Not a DVD...but Dido`s "Life For Rent" audio CD - 6.99 at cdwow.com

OK, so it`s not a DVD, but Dido`s "Life For Rent" audio CD has already gone "Bargain Basement" on www.cdwow.com - 6.99 quid ! With the, ahem, T***tcard code (no, I`m not putting the URL up here), I got a quid off that too...

I was debating getting this album though - reviews have been generally poor, there may be copy protection on the CD (if amazon.co.uk is anything to go by) and the record company released *3* versions of her previous "No Angel" album, so one wonders if a "limited edition" version of "Life For Rent" might crop up in a few months time. But the bargain hunter in me couldn`t resist...

there is copy protection but no doubt this will only baffle the innocent home user who copies it for the kids

Innocent home user here. I have a couple of copy protected cd`s that I want to copy for the in car collection (I don`t like to have the originals in the car). How do I get around this?

depends on how it is protected, but some you can just pen over the copy protection or cover with tape...
i know it sounds strange but i have done this and it works!!!

Copy protection has never caused me any problems except for copying to minidisc.

Even then, I just use an analogue connection and it works fine.

I can do everything with a copy protected disc that I can with with a normal one on my computer, I don`t have to do anything different. Seems a waste of time to me!

Agree - bought this CD a couple of weeks ago, and copied it with Nero express without a hint of a problem.

The Darkness CD also has copy protection on it. I just used CDex to convert the songs to MP3 and then burned them in nero with no problems as I wanted a copy to play in the car as well. Just stop the cd from playing automatically and dont let it install any software to enable the CD to play on your PC.

Looks like Dido offer was for one week only...

Just a note that Dido`s "Life for Rent" has gone back up to 8.99 quid at
www.cdwow.com (as did all the chart albums they`d reduced last week).
I got my copy and "White Flag" is by far the best track - the rest is mostly forgettable, plus the stupid "hidden track" idea (actually a 9 minute long final track with a 2 minute gap separating a "visible" song from a "hidden" one) gets my goat every time. Like what`s that 12th song called, who wrote it and there`s no lyrics in the booklet for it...it`s a disservice for all fans of the artist when shenanigans like that take place.

Trivia point: CD WOW actually sourced the album from Australia ! Mind you, I got Lisa Marie Presley`s album from CD WOW the week before (5.99 quid once I`d used "the voucher") and that came from the Phillipines. LMP`s album is probably a bit more varied than Dido`s, now if I only I couldn`t get over the image of LMP in my head (Sheryl Crow wearing an Elvis outfit...).
