Aldi 8-in-1 "universal" remote control £7.99 from Thursday 2nd October

here

I got one of these last time around - thoroughly recommended : handle all of my kit, bar my newest Compacks DVD5000

So that`s (deep breath) Yamaha A5, Encore DV450 DVD, Sanyo 28WN4, Sanyo VHR789, Pace itv Digital/Freeview box, Pace ntl digibox, and also the old Sanyo TV upstairs....and the knackered old Sony VCR too. 8 bits of kit :)

If anyone wants to know the brands and types of devices (not the model numbers. I`m afraid) covered I`ll see if I can dig out the manual from last time - I`ll do a sweep up of questions around midnight.

Incidentally it does have a Videoplus button and a very snazzy "all devices off in one button push" button (the bummer is it`s easily confused with the Menu button when you`re in the dark).

Oh, and the device control buttons light up red when you press them too :)

(the spooky thing with this thread was I typed "A" for Aldi in the title header and it came up with the one I posted two years ago - only had to change the number of the date from 4 to 2 - sweet :))

I whole heartedly agree with Clayts...bought this remote about a year ago & it `works` for everything I`ve got...Ferg. TV`s, Aiwa vid. Tosh DVD, Pioneer digi box, Kenwood hi-fi seperates & even a 20+ year old Grundig 14" TV....would buy one for upstairs/as a spare...but sadly I`ll be in Fuerteventura this coming week....life can be a such a bitch sometimes!

Seriously I`ve tried the 1-4-all 6 learning thingy (didn`t learn & 4x the price!) & it isn`t a patch on this...go for it guys.

Thumbs up from me as well, handles everything in a logical easy to learn way, and is the equal of remotes costing ten times as much.

Highly recommended.

Sounds good.

Any idea how well it copes with an ntl set top box? From what I`ve seen in the past that always seems to be the difficult one.

Also have a Pioneer HTD5 (I think) home cinema system.

Thanks

I take it they don`t have a website as I`ve only ever seen one Aldi and that was bloody miles away in the middle of nowhere

And they don`t accept credit cards in store either! a true sign of a pikey store!

Be careful with these new remotes, as code 555 for sky does not work

But they work on the old remote I had a year ago
