Thanks mate - bagged meself Donnie Darko (had rented it, loved it, be rude not to at that price, plus I had a 50p voucher sent to me by them which I hadn`t used - a veritable bargain, and no mistake, guv) :D

Extras are over-rated twaddle most of the time, although the deleted scenes in DD were rather good, I admit... :(

Clayts,
You`re right. Hope the extras come on DD. Thought they added loads to the film and explained a fair bit too. It seems Drew Barrymore had a bigger part in the original cut.

Well bought darko and also used me 50p voucher, never seen the film but know it`s highly regarded on this site.

At £3.50 seems a good bet.

Oscar.

I agree - Richard Kelly admitted he wanted to keep it all in, as her role was fairly pivotal, particularly in the deleted scene with her and Donnie in the classroom which was cut brutally for the film. However, he kept saying on the commentary that the pace of the film was vital....

I bought the R3 version of Donnie Darko a while back and it went straight back. No extras, poor sound ( even though its 5.1) when compared to the R1 version and a very poor pic which is LB. Probably the narrowest pic ive seen with the huge black bars above and below the pic. Personally i hate that. If your a fan you should invest a bit more and get the R1 version instead. £5.49 with link and voucher.

If that`s true and the R1 is only a £ or 2 more, that`s the one I`d go for. These extras really are worth it. Wonder if the R3 has the commentary because that too is great.
But I`ve already got the R1 so I won`t. ;)
Apparently, quite rarely, the R2 has more extras than R1.
