www.play.com now have all the Friends boxsets at the promotional price including series 9 thats series 1 to 6 at 17.99 and series 7 to 9 at 37.99

This would be still liable for import tax at £37.99 for series 9 wouldn`t it?
What do you think?- how much could this add to the price if it was charged with taxes.

IT SAYS £73.99
I think i will leave it at this price. I wouldn`t pay any more than £50 for this so i will be waiting for it in the sales.

Thought you were only liable for import duty tax on region 1 dvd`s over £18. Should be okay for region 2 but not 100% sure. :/
Friends Season 7 & 8 (region2) are £28.99 on Cdwow.

if you search on play for "promotion" it will bring up all the friends boxsets on offer, I have noticed that they are actually not available yet so are in actual fact a pre-order

Surely they are both exactly the same thing?
Tell me if i`m wrong.
PS. I think any item from Jersey into the UK with a declared value over £18 is likely to qualify for import duties. It just depends on whether it gets caught!
With the likely size of this package i reckon the chances are it will be caught.

I think they`ve done this because of splash
with splash recently moving to Jersey, play will be under more pressure and have negotiated this deal, but obviously couldn`t get the deal till 27/10/03, but to stop customers going to splash have advertised it now. as far as import duties I have never had to pay from Jersey and I have had a lot, if you visit their region one site they warn you if you will have to pay duty, as they did before the site split, so I think they would say if there was a risk.
