probably not, when it was 50quid, and the multi-region 60, I bought the cheaper one, knowing I had found the hack here, and other places online, it didn`t work, so I took it back, and they were willing to take it back, with another 10quid from me for the multi-region one.
At first I really liked this DVD player. The multi region one(don`t think the standard one) plays any DVD (including RCE), VCD, CDRW, jpg photo CD etc I put in it, but I had to take one back `cos it stopped working, and on my current one, the tray gets stuck sometimes.
Actually if you look in the hard ware forum, you`ll see a post about the one I bought for my gf, which wouldn`t work with her TV but worked at the shop and on my TV, so I kept that one, gave her mine (same make and model) and that worked fine on her TV!!!
As a whole it works fine no probs, but the little things get more annoying after a while:(
I suppose it`s good value for money, but at the same time, you get what you pay for! To put it another way, I don`t regret getting this one, but when it does outside the 1 year guarantee, I`ll spend a bit more
