Heh - cheaper here :

http://secure.addonsonline.co.uk/addon/code/products.asp?partno=CD4210 - £93.95 delivered !

Apparently it can even be turned into a 4 X writer (ie like the ND1100) by applying a firmware upgrade : see

Hmmmmm was almost tempted, until I saw it was a +R, it looks to me like the -R format is going to win, so I think I will resist the temptation this time

Cheers tho, Tom

Hasn`t +R been chosen by M$ as the preferred format fir future OS`s?
Even though it`s not a `ratified` DVD format.

I`m not sure it really matters what will `win` - DVD+R discs burned on this writer will play on the very large majority of standalone DVD players, so where`s the problem ?

I`m a bit confused with all these format issues so answer me this.

Can I use this DVD writer to make a copy of a movie from another DVD? For backup purposes of course, in case any of my discs get nicked...

Can this be played back on my standard domestic DVD player and does the copying process require special ripping software?

Thanks

All I know is the average dvd is around 9gig (dual layer) whereas dvd-r`s are 4.7 if im not mistaken, so I assume you would have to cut and chop menu`s special features etc for them to fit on the disk.

Feel free to correct me if im talking balls!
