Macrovision defeater at Maplin £24.99

I know someone posted this before, but I bought one of these beauties, and it works a f*****g treat!! Tried a few Dvd`s (music and movie) to test and the copying is stunning. It uses a straightforward scart in and scart out, and has it`s own power supply. By the way, 1.5 metre scart-to-scart`s are only 85pence in Hyper value (all pins connected)! I kid you not!! Roger.

They have always been £25, as long as I`ve known : i.e. no bargain here, moved to Hardware Forum.

You`re a hard man Clayts, Maplin are flogging this as a bargain like a dead horse at the moment, not surprising people pick it up for bargain buckets, but it`s for you to choose :-)

No they haven`t alway been this price, and yes it is a bargain, so why did you move it Clayts. This is not the first time i`ve had this done in error, so could you do the decent thing and put it back where it belongs. I would have thought that a scart at 85pence constituted a bargain as well................what gives??

Well, it`s priced at £39.99 in my old catalogue (from 2001-02), so the £24.99 price clearly represents a saving.

It definitely deserves to be in Bargain Buckets, and is arguably more of interest to the DVD fraternity than cheap photo paper, USB radios, baked beans or whatever ;-)

(in a small voice) but they`ve always been £25.... (Maplin just charged more than everyone else)

I bow to the democratic process.

Don`t know the specific URL for the source up-thread, but quite a few of the cheap-hardware shops sell them for around a quid. I bought mine from Poundstretcher.

Downside: you`re not going to get the best possible picture.

Upside: they`re cheap, and RGB video is better than composite.
