Not as flexible as an inkjet perhaps, but for sharp black text, this is a really nice little printer - I bought one 18 months ago for about £120 and thought it was a bargain then - still on the same toner cartridge.

Yup - busy boy, me. I had a look at the Dabs link, and they listed the cartridge/drum doodah at £39 plus VAT. However, unlike inkjets (where you often get a low capacity cartridge with the printer), the drum you get with the printer is a full size one, AFAIK.

One thing I would say is that it`s not brill on grey text - certainly on toner save, anyway. However, it`s so nice not to have print that smudges - if I want to do colour, the other PC`s got an inkjet attached, so we have the best of both worlds.

Not as good a deal as the 2nd-hand Laserjet I bought, a year ago, but laser printers are generally a good option if you want black text printing. Only likely catch is that some of the cheap ones depend on Windows drivers. I`ve run my Laserjet under plain-old-DOS, Windows, Linux, and attached to an Apple Mac SE/30.

But I can`t figure out what this has to do with DVDs :)

Forget DVD`s for a moment, what is the cheapest colour laser A4 available which gives good output???
