Aldi`s surround sound speakers <£40
Hi All,
On July 11 Aldi are going to be selling some Medion surround sound speakers, they say in their leaflet that they are 5.1 active and are great for CD and DVD listening. Does anyone know if these will plug straight into a DVD player? I have a JVC XV-S42SL that has a coaxil and optic socket on the back and has DTS Dolby digital and 3Dphonic logos on the front. Would these work together?
Thanx for reading.

They look like the same deal as my Videologic ZXR-500 but the spec states 250W PMPO which is very misleading and is only ever used to make something sound more powerful. Check the back of your player. If it has six audio outputs then this would likely suit you. Check at the shop and if it doesn`t check out the slightly more expensive ZXR`s as they are plenty powerful enough for my medium sized room.

Thanx for that Audiobore.
Mine has only 2 audio outs so it looks like 5.1`s are out for me :-(
At least me understanding of things keeps growing :-)

Go to the following address as they look like they are the same speakers I bought from Lidl a couple of weeks back. Also they are more suited to PC`s rather than DVD`s.The reason I say they are for PC`s is that on the Anubis site the wiring diagram is shown for PC`s.

Dogma - to get 5.1, you need an external device that will decode the audio coming from either the coax or optical connections. This will either be in the form of an all in one system with decoder, or as an amp/receiver and a set of speakers. Costs more than something like the Aldi thing, but sounds a lot better too!

Thanx for that Richard, counting my pennies out now ;-)

Any idea how much the cheapest set would by that could accept a coaxial/digital connection?
