Anyone bought a Dual DVDR from Asda @ £99?
I saw one of these machines on sale at my local Asda and was intrigued. Has anyone bought one and are they any good? I am not expecting amazing performances but would like to hear some opinions.
RE: Back by popular demand - what players have you all got then ?
Philips DVD957- a top player!
RE: Philips 711
I entered the code using an OneforAll remote a week ago and I have watched both region 1& region 2 films without having to do a thing (apart from load the disc that is!)
Enjoy!!
P.S. I have been told that it will play RCE discs too, but I haven`t tried it yet

RE: What TV series would you like to see released on DVD ?
Miami Vice& `V`
I also recall a strange programme in the early 80`s called `Automan`.
Anyone remember that one?
(god i`m old!)
RE: any region hacks for phillips dvd player 751
Hi. I too have a Philips player (DVD957) and I used some of the temporary hacks available on these forums (try region hacks, over on the left column...) These hacks are limited to 25 times before they lock the player in the last region selected (as I found out to my dismay when it locked in region 1, especially as I didn`t own any!)
But if you buy an OneforAll remote (model no URC-7541, available from Argos @ £24.99) you can use a hack, which makes your player (in fact most Philips players) multiregion. This hack can be found here: http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/philips750.asp
Hope this helps.
RE: Is the Philips 711 limited to 25 remote hacks?
If you mean the hacks using your original remote then yes it is limited (as I found when my 957 locked in region 1, which was a bit of a problem, as I had only borrowed a region 1 disc and didn`t own any!)
But if you use a One for all remote (model no:URC-7541) you can hack it and forget it! I now have a multiregion player that I don`t have to change regions manually and plays RCE discs! AWESOME!!
I believe the hack can be found at :http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/philips750.asp
I hope this has helped.
P.S. Don`t worry that it says a different model no on the page, as it hacks all Philips player (or most anyway)
Let me know how you get on. ;-)

RE: WHAT IS THE BEST 007 DVD?
I have Dr No, and I must say that while the film isn`t the best in the series (my personal fav is `You only live twice`) the extra`s are extremely interesting.
RE: Are there any Easter Eggs on R2 Gladiator
As far as I am aware, there is only one easter egg on this disc. If you goto the storyboard section on the second menu screen, select the rhino sequence, then highlight the rhino, a short computer graphics test should run.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!
I would like to take this oportunity to thank all of the forum members who helped me with my dvd player and made it possible to turn it into a multiregion player.
If anyone is unsure whether or not to purchase a One for All remote to hack a Philips player don`t be. My player had locked in region 1 after I had played a mates disc and I hacked it to play region 1. This was a bit of a problem as all my discs were region 2!! I bought the aforementioned remote and voila! Multiregion!!
Once again thank you.
Philips DVD957-does OneforAll hack work?
I have a Philips DVD957, which has locked in region 1(I lost count!). Can anyone tell me if the OneforAll code works before I buy one. Has anyone tried it? Does anyone else have this player?, as I do not know anyone who has. It is not a player that gets much of a mention in the forums either.
Thanks for any help.
RE: Locked out Philips
Thanks for the help.
Looks like I will have to search a bit harder to find a Oneforall remote!
Locked out Philips
I have tried the temporary remote hack on my Philips DVD957, as my local shops have no One for All remotes and it has locked in region 1. Does anyone know how I can get it back to region 2, so I can stop meddling in things I do not understand!!
RE: Messing about with SCART cables...........?
Hi
The official Nintendo scart lead is actually three phono leads (one video, two audio) with a scart adaptor to plug into the tv. I have one of these and it is superb (paid a fiver for it too, bargain) you just leave the video lead plugged into the scart adapter, then route the two audio into your stereo.
As for surround N64 games. Perfect Dark is the best I have found....
dvd on ancient tv?
Does anyone know if it is possible to connect a dvd player to an old 14" portable? I want to be able to play dvd`s in the bedroom as well as the lounge and there is no scart socket on the back of the tv set. If not, this means I will have to get out of bed! ;-)
Thanks in advance.
RE: Help me! I AM THICK!!
Thanks to all for your postings.
It just looks like I will have to open my wallet!
Look out for moths!! ;-)
Help me! I AM THICK!!
Could anyone tell me if I have a dvd player with built-in dts and Dolby digital decoder built in (which I soon will have) if I could get digital sound through a Pro-logic amp?
I am sure I can`t (in fact, I don`t know why I am asking, just forget it.....) but I just need to put my mind at rest.
If I cannot, what sort of investments would I need to make to get said dts sound?
Thanks all.
RE: Anyone remember THE ANIMAL OLYMPICS?
I definately remember this film (it was called Animalympics) especially the goat and the leopard falling in lurve...... (I am indeed a sad person!)
I think you will have trouble finding it, as no-one I know has seen this film.
Let me know how you get on.
Has anyone read any reviews of a Philips DVD957?
I have been informed recently that I have won the aforementioned Philips player (website competition) and I wondered if anyone has read any reviews, so I can have some idea of what I have to look forward to (if anything!?)
Thanks in advance.
Hacks for Aiwa stereo with DVD (XR-DV525)
Does anyone know of a region hack for an Aiwa XR-DV525 stereo with DVD built in? I have tried the well known Aiwa hack (for the dedicated DVD player) with no success, because as soon as you switch on the player, it searches through the disc changer to find a disc, therefore disallowing you to input the codes. Any help would be greatly apprieciated.
