Could anyone tell me if I have a dvd player with built-in dts and Dolby digital decoder built in (which I soon will have) if I could get digital sound through a Pro-logic amp?
I am sure I can`t (in fact, I don`t know why I am asking, just forget it.....) but I just need to put my mind at rest.
If I cannot, what sort of investments would I need to make to get said dts sound?
Thanks all.
That depends what you mean by `digital` sound.
You could plug the outputs from the built in decoder into any amp(s) to get a slightly messy setup that would be alright.
If your Pro-Logic amp has enough inputs then you could (maybe) get something going.
I dont know really, this isnt my department exactly.
Hmm.
No you can`t, unless it`s a VERY recent pro-logic amp with seperate inputs for each channel.
To get DTS (different from Dolby Digital) you`ll need a DTS compliant amp and a digital cable. Cables are from £13 upwards, and I think the cheapest amp/speaker kit available is the Sony HTK 215 for around £350.
Anyone else know of a cheaper DTS system?
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!

Ahem. Yeah well I had heard that you could get Pro-Logic amps with seperate inputs and went all stupid from there on in.
Is not the Digitheatre DTS the cheapest currently?
Maybe I am wrong.

I`ve just bought one and it`s fantastic. I did look at the DigiTheatre but i didn`t fancy the idea of the amp/decoder being built into the centre speaker, and this is cheaper!!
