RE: Austerity, tighten belts, no money left, dont make me laugh !
I (nor anyone else) can help being political in a discussion like this but here is my tenpenneth worth.
Today they buried a despot who would have gladly turned the troops on you. The TV has been awash with images of the Police attacking miners, well I say attacking. If you can call mounted policeman charging at pedestrians `attacking`. The followers who idolised her and her memory today still cling to the same old doctrine of keeping the working class in their place. If you believe Cameron (who openly admits to being one of Thatchers children) wouldn`t use the Police or the Troops to quell any unrest then you really need to be fitted for a jacket that buttons up at the rear. These are the people who tell you `we are all in it together` and then give their millionaire mates a tax cut. These are the people who tell you the Energy companies are not doing enough to help their customers yet have the power to legislate yet do nothing to help. These are the people who attack disabled peoples benefits and yet have the audacity to claim the moral high ground. Too many people these days are blind to the suffering of others and that suits this government just fine and dandy. It allows them to do what they want and pass it off as social reform. I agree with bandicoot, hopefully the populace will see it isn`t raining at all, we are just being p*ss*d on again.

RE: Mong-gate.
Calling someone a retard is bad but it is out of context, ie you retard - meaning you are slow on the uptake. Bad but probably borderline acceptable.
Calling someone a mong is likening them to Down`s Syndrome people (I won`t use the word sufferers because I have known a few and they have only suffered at the hands of the idiots such as Gervais and co, In themselves I have found them to be open loving individuals with as much right to respect as anyone else. As for reclaiming the word that is a load of crap, what next reclaiming the word puff, queer, spastic and so on. Someone ought to tell him it`s 2011 and a lot of comedians have moved on from such easy targets. I was and still am a fan of the late great Les Dawson, I never once heard him tell a joke that targetted less abled people.
I think it is just Gervais` way....... Big Head, Big Mouth, Small talent.
RE: Corrupt jpeg files...
This may be of some help to you, it is a free utility called reuva from a company called Piriform.
The rest of the utilities are also quite good.
The same thing happened to me and although I didn`t recover all of them I was glad to get back 75% of them
The download can be obtained from http://www.piriform.com/
Good luck and all the best

RE: Push bike alarms.
Don`t laugh at this suggestion, buy a quick release axle to fit your front wheel.
You can the simply remove it and take it into your place of work.
No-one in their right mind is going to try to steal a locked bike if a: they can`t ride it away or b; they have to spend around £45 on a new wheel and tyre combination.
If that is too mucky a task for you you could spend around £15 for a quick release seat post, pulling it out of the frame tube and taking into your place of work.
I got my motobike pinched from right outside my back door.
It now sits under it`s own dedicated PIR security light, locked with an Oxford HardCore security chain and a good quality alarm is fitted. Once bitten.....twice ready for the thieving b+st*rds
Good luck in hanging on to what is rightfully yours.

RE: Canada`s Slut Walk
No woman (or man come to think of it deserves rape) but Mark Oates has a valid point.
Many young woman drink to the point where they are in danger of a lot of things.
The `booze bus` I seen on a documentary the other day was full of women in their twenties who were so inebriated the were in danger of choking on their own their own vomit or even tongues.
I live in a small town and every Thursday to Sunday these young women are dressed in gear that barely covers anything. Add to this that a lot of young lads are idiots and also get plastered and you have a recipe for trouble.
A lot of young people these days (thankfully not all) seem to ignore social drinking and go out to get `hammered`.
I am not saying it is their fault either, a lot come from areas of high unemployment and deprived areas.
A young lad and a young lass both meet and get drunk on a night out together, the girl is scantily clad and the lad misreads the signals. Both are drunk so neither probably knows what they are doing.
It`s not an excuse for rape but Alcohol is involved in a lot of crimes these days.
I have a twenty five year old daughter who thankfully has been sensible about alcohol but I would never have let her leave the house dressed like some of the young ladies I see on my way to work on night shift.
Fuelled with alcohol bravado flashing their boobs at the local lads and then complaining because the pubs won`t let them in.
No woman or man ever deserves rape.. ever.
But we all have to take responsibility for our own actions.
As my old gran used to say, `If you don`t want to sell it, don`t put it in the shop window.
I`ll just finish by saying last week outside the local taxi rank I seen a woman with a skirt as short as a belt and her boobs falling out of her top screaming at her boyfriend for looking at a similarly clad young lady.
Double standards or what?
All the best

RE: Twit next door and his car.
I was going to give some advice but I got sidetracked (mesmerised) by marksparks999`s lady with the wobbling bottom.
I must go and have a lie down.
RE: Another car help thread
Your vanity light wattage is probably 5w which is around half an amp.
This may seem insignificant but your battery is probably around 40 amps.
This means that if you never use your car at all and this lamp is the culprit your battery will be dead in around something like 80 hours (just over three days).
If you do a lot of short runs then your starter motor will eat your battery reserve and you`ll never get chance to top it up again.
I remember being told years ago by an auto electrician that you need to run your car under minimal load for at least 20 mins to top up your battery from a cold start.
This isn`t easy when you think as soon as you get in the car you can be using the lights, radio, heater, heated rear window etc. Your battery hasn`t got a chance on short runs.
I am not keen on paying over inflated garage prices and electrical problems are usually expensive due to the time required to find the culprit. If you ever suspect any lamp/switch the best thing to do is remove the bulb and see if the problem persists.
Good Luck
LiteOn DD-A110 disc read errors
Hi everyone.
I wonder if anyone has had the same problem as me.
Last week I purchased a LiteOn DD-A110 dvd recorder from Tesco and it is brilliant at recording but some of the commercial DVD`s I put in it bring up the message `invalid disc`.
The latest one it won`t play is `Backdraft`which is region 2 for god`s sake.
I am loathe to return it because in all other respects it is a good machine.
I don`t want to put a dvd player in the set up just to view pre-recorded DVD`s.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated if only to stop the wife and two teenagers nagging me about the `crap` I have bought.
All the best
