Phising Emails

Hi Guys Just want to draw your attention to 2 Phising Emails doing the rounds at the moment.1 from Lloyds Tsb and 2nd from Alliance & Leicester (supposedly).I have had thrre in the past week,so be aware and don`t give out any info asked for.If in doubt speak to your bank first. The one from Lloyds Tsb is pasted here.The one from A&L looks similar but with A&L logos.

RE: Dell Vostro 1000 not booting

Thanks for the input Brian.UPDATE.I phoned Dell again today and went through all the tests with their Technical support.same conclusion:Motherboard faulty.I spoke to customer services and asked why a motherboard should fail within a year and was tranferred to the Hardware support who basically were not interested,however suggested I speak to the warranty dept.Warranty dept said if I purchased a 3yr extended warranty for £100,they would see what they could do.Anyway, I took the warranty and the laptop should be collected tommorow and repaired under warranty.I thought it was better to go down this route then have a £300 laptop sitting around.At least I should have no repair bills for the next 3 years.

Dell Vostro 1000 not booting

Hi, All.I have a 13 month old Dell Vostro 1000 which is not booting at all. When I press the start button, I can hear the fan come on.Three light to the left of the switch flash momentarily and then I get 2 light ( 2nd light with*A* and third light with a downward arrow) but nothing on the screen.I have been in touch with Dell but told its just out of warranty.Sod`s law isn`t it.It was suggested that the motherboard might be dead and would cost about £200 to repair..Any ideas or suggestions from any experts out the will be appreciated.

BEST FREE POP-UP BLOCKER

Can anyone recommend an effective pop-up blocker? I am using Mozilla and have Adblock turned on but some annoying popups are still getting through.I have activated all the addons,but no luck.The popups start with Cids before the http.

Re installing XP

My PC is playing up lately,so I have decided to re-install XP on a cleaned HD.Is it really neccesary to partition the drive.What are the advantages or disadvantages of partitioning.Thanks for any help.I have a 160gb HD

I,ve just done a system restore using Compaqs in built facility to restore it to its original state,and then did a scandisk with repair option.The harddrive has certainly quitened down,so keep my fingers crossed.Will post again in afew days.Thanks Guys.

Dell are quite good.I`ve had a Vostro and Inspiron 6400 and no problems at all.Like somebody else mentioned,look at Hotukdeals for discount codes and configure it with XP.

Sorry it didn`t work.Have you tried a different sim in the phone because some Virgin phones are not locked.And I am sure a T-mobile sim will work in a Virgin phone without unlocking. Worth a try.

Mick,did you manage to bring up the pw+ on the screen.It takes a bit of practise to get these by repeatedly pressing the * button.Did you get a message saying Code error or similar every time you put the code in? If it needs a cable unlock,I don`t know if you have phone shops in your local market,but they can unlock them for between £3-£5.I am sorry I don`t have the software for cable unlock.(Basically you attach an unlocking cable to the phone and run a software thru a PC)

Try the last one 1st.(+7#) It should work,if not Try +1# and then +5# .If you can`t unlock it in 3 attempts leave it and try a cable unlock locally.
Instuctions: Remove sim from phone.To bring up the pw+ symbols you will need to press the * key quickly.Once the p comes up press * again till w comes up,then again till + comes up.Then key in the numbers 227845746475032+7# and you should have a message` Phone restrictions off `on the phone.Job done. Let me know how you get on.

I unlocked one for The Ogster a while back.You will have to send me the IMEI no. and will generate a code for you.I hope no attempts have been made to unlock it because after 5 it will need a cable unlock. To get the IMEI Key in *#06#.

FREE MP3 CD BURNER

Is there any FREE mp3 cd burners out there that I can download.I have been using Acoustica MP3 CD burner for a while now,but lately its asking me to buy a code.I need something which will let me burn discs from a playlist made in Megabytes and not Minutes,which is an option available with Acoustica.I have tried some,but so far can only find one with the time option,so I can get only 12-14 tracks on a 650mins CD.

What I meant was ,once an item is sold on Ebay,the buyer gets all your details and they use your email address to send you a mail supposedly from Paypal saying the item has paid for.If you despatch without checking your paypal a/c,you could do your self serious damage.I sell some stuff on Amazon and its much safer.Amazon collect the money for you and pay it into your bank a/c(No listing fees,but quite high commission) Lately,our Westafrican friends are trying their scams on Amazon.In the last 3 days I have sold 2 items, but the payment has not cleared.Because Amazon take care of the payment,I assume someone is trying to buy them with fake or stolen creditcards.The scammers then send a message to you via the Amazon message board saying the payment is delayed because Amazon have wrong credit card details.If you reply to that email,they have your details and lo and behold,it is follwed by a fake Item sold,Despatch now email.If you dont check your Amazon a/c to see if a payment has been actully credited and send off the item,youve lost.Just thought I`d post this to alert others who sell on Amazon.

Another thing to remember as well is,if you sell something on Ebay and have been paid by Paypal,do not assume that the item paid for email is from Paypal.Always access your Paypal a/c from my Ebay to make sure your the payment has been credited before you ship the item.

If your TV has HD connection,Asda are doing a HDMI player for £29 in Black.Stylish and plays everything.If there is no HD on your set you can use the composite RGB as well.

You`re probably right.My point was you don`t have to spend all that to train as an Instructor.I know BSM charge around that figure.

The instructor test is in 3 parts.Part 1 Theory,Part2 Driving and part 3 Instructing.Parts 1&2 are easy to do without much expense.You can buy sample papers from Good Stationers.Once you pass Part2 you can apply to be a Trainee instructor with a Driving school and so get the experience for the Part three test.I hope this helps.When I qualified I spent about £1500, not knowing then I could have done it a lot cheaper.

I had a E801 unlocked in Leicester for £8.Try your local unlockers.BTW you can use Virgin sims in T-mobile phones without unlocking.

CAN I USE A 7" TWIN SCREEN PORTABLE DVD PLAYER TO PLAY PS2 GAMES

As titled, is it possible to use a one of these devices to play PS2 games through the A/V connection.Goodmans do one specially made for PS2 but it costs about £100.The twin screen dvd players go for about £50 so I just wondered if someone has one setup.

Two things.Is the phone unlocked? Secondly you might have to topup with £10 to get you going.Unless they have changed things recently,the O2 sim comes with a number so no need to register.
